⚓ 🇺🇸 Happy 251st Birthday, United States Navy!

On October 13, 1775, the Continental Congress established the force that would become the United States Navy.

For 251 years, generations of American Sailors have served at sea and ashore—defending our nation, protecting our interests, and carrying the American flag across the world.

Today, VFW Post 6715 honors all who have worn the uniform of the United States Navy, from those who served aboard the earliest ships of the Continental Navy to the Sailors standing watch around the world today.

To our Navy veterans and those currently serving: thank you for your service and sacrifice.

⚓ Honor. Courage. Commitment.

🇺🇸 Operation Enduring Freedom — October 7, 2001

On October 7, 2001, Operation Enduring Freedom began in Afghanistan.

For the generation that answered our nation’s call after September 11, Afghanistan became more than a place on a map. It became deployments, long days and longer nights, friendships forged through service, families waiting at home, and brothers and sisters we still carry with us.

Today, VFW Post 6715 recognizes every American who served in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and remembers those who did not return home.

Honor the service. Remember the sacrifice.

🇺🇸 127 Years of Veterans Serving Veterans

On September 29, 1899, the organization that would become the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States began a legacy of service that continues today.

For 127 years, veterans have stood together—advocating for those who served, supporting military families, strengthening our communities, and ensuring that the sacrifices of our nation's veterans are never forgotten.

Here at VFW Post 6715 in Gilmer, we are proud to carry that mission forward in our own community.

Honoring the dead by helping the living.

Happy Founding Day to the Veterans of Foreign Wars! 🇺🇸

VFW Post 6715 extends a heartfelt thank you to Lehi Gage of Roseland Oil & Gas

Lehi presented our Post with $7,000 in proceeds from the April Charity Golf Tournament. At a later meeting, we had the privilege of presenting him with a plaque in appreciation of his continued support.

Lehi, thank you for standing with our veterans and our Post. Your generosity and commitment to this community mean a great deal to us.

🇺🇸 Constitution Day | September 17

Today we honor the document that begins with three powerful words: “We the People.”

May we always remember the freedoms it protects and our responsibility to preserve them for generations to come.

Side by Side in Service 🇺🇸

On September 14, 1914, the organization that would become the VFW Auxiliary was founded. For more than a century, its members have stood alongside the Veterans of Foreign Wars in service to veterans, military families, and communities across our nation.

Their impact can be seen in the support they provide to veterans and families, the programs they bring into our communities, their investment in our youth, and the countless hours they give in service to others.

Today, we honor the generations of Auxiliary members who came before us and thank those who continue that legacy today.

Ordinary people. Extraordinary impact. Together, we make a difference.

🇺🇸 We Remember — September 11, 2001

Twenty-five years ago today, our nation was forever changed.

We remember the innocent lives taken in New York City, at the Pentagon, and aboard Flight 93. We remember the firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, military members, and ordinary Americans who responded with extraordinary courage.

September 11 also reminds us of what Americans did in the face of tragedy. We came together. We served one another. We stood beside our neighbors.

On this Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance, VFW Post 6715 honors those we lost, those who answered the call, and those who continue to carry their memory.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.
