Fall is here and so is week 1 of the Fall Veggie Basket! 🍂

This week's basket includes:
🎃 Winter Squash (Acorn, Delicata, Honeynut, Butternut, Buttercup, Spaghetti, Georgia Candy Roaster)
🫜 Red Beets

🥔 Red Potato
🥔 Yukon Gold Potato

Protein from the Prairie this week includes pork purchased from Red Neck Vittles and beef purchased from Turbiville Beef, thank you both for supporting our community with locally sourced protein!

Honey is purchased from High Plains Honey, and eggs are purchased from Meghan Young, thank you for adding a little sweetness and farm-fresh goodness to this week's basket!

Excited to kick off this short but sweet 2-week Fall season with all of you!

What a night! 🍝🌱

Our fifth annual Pasta alla Prairie brought our community together for good food, music, and a chance to see where our food is grown. Even the wind and rain couldn’t stop us!

After years of growing on one borrowed acre, we’re now building our new 41-acre nonprofit farm, and we’re so grateful to have a community cheering us on as we grow.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, sponsored the evening, donated auction items, volunteered, and helped make Pasta alla Prairie such a special night. We’re so grateful for you!

A huge thank you to the Companies Foundation and Safeway Foundation for supporting the Edible Prairie Project’s Summer Weekend Meals for Kids program! 💚

Their support included a $2,500 match through the Nourishing the American Dream campaign and an additional $2,500 grant. Together, that $5,000 helped us pack 635 of the 2,169 weekend food bags distributed this summer through 8 community partners across Campbell County.

We are so grateful for their investment in keeping local kids fed during the weekend when school is out for summer break! ❤️

🥕 Our 2026 summer Veggie Basket season is a wrap!

Over 10 weeks, the Edible Prairie Project provided fresh, locally grown food to Campbell County families.

🌱 37 families
🥕 3,000+ pounds of produce
🌾 90% was grown by the Edible Prairie Project team
💚 23 SNAP/WIC eligible families received free baskets (for a total of 230 free baskets)
🤝 3 basket shares were offered at a discounted rate to households below the self-sufficiency standard
🥩 SNAP/WIC families also received locally raised meat and eggs through Protein from the Prairie

And we’re not done yet. Fall Veggie Baskets begin in October, continuing our work to make fresh, locally grown food more accessible throughout the year.

💚 Thank you, United Way of Natrona County for Campbell County for supporting the Edible Prairie Project’s Protein from the Prairie program and seasonal farmhand.

This grant helps us provide locally sourced protein to families participating in our Veggie Basket program while also helping support our seasonal farmhand, who is growing and harvesting the fresh produce that goes into those baskets.

We’re grateful for partners who understand that food access takes more than getting food from one place to another. It takes people growing, harvesting, preparing, and distributing that food so it can reach local families.

Thank you for investing in our community and helping us continue to grow and share locally produced food with our neighbors! 🌱

We are so glad to partner with the Council of Community Services to help bring fresh, locally grown food to more local families this summer. 🌱

This summer, Council of Community Services partnered with the Edible Prairie Project to provide 14 local families with 10 weeks of nutritious, locally produced food.

Made possible through Child Health funding from the Department of Health, each weekly basket included a rotating selection of seasonal produce. Throughout the summer, families also received local eggs, honey, and meat.

We’ll be celebrating rain or shine, with a tent in place for the evening.
