Before she was "the Book Lady" to millions of children, Dolly Parton believed every child deserved the chance to fall in love with reading.

Through Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, she collaborated with Rotary to expand access to books and support young readers, one story at a time 📚 We were lucky enough to have her grace the Rotary stage in 2010 🎤 💫

Dolly, thank you for reminding us that literacy opens doors. Your generosity and optimism will inspire generations to come 💖

The entertainer and philanthropist Dolly Parton died 25 August 2026. This Q&A was originally published in the March 2010 issue of The Rotarian (now Rotary) magazine. Later that year, she spoke at the Rotary International Convention in Montreal, Canada.

We’re excited to see these new shelters installed at the Sports Complex, donated by our Rotary Club!

Whether it’s giving families a place to get out of the sun, take a break between games, or simply sit and enjoy the day, this shelter is another small way Rotary is working to make a lasting difference in our community.

Projects like this are what Rotary is all about—seeing a need, coming together, and investing in the community we call home.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this project possible! We hope this shelter serves our athletes, families, and visitors for many years to come. ❤️ A special thank you to Tom Balo for the vision and idea, Justin Eliassen and Hladky Construction for making this project a reality!
