We see many reasons why people don't want to spay or neuter their pets. And we see just as many cases of Pyometra in unaltered female pets. Every case we help, the owners always say the same thing; they wished they would have spayed their pet to avoid the pain, suffering, and financial burden of Pyometra.

Please visit with your veterinarian about the benefits of spaying and neutering your pets. Aside from cutting down on the unwanted litters and burden to rescues and shelters, spaying and neutering can save your animal's life.

Welp, it looks like summer has arrived, and a great time to remind everyone of the dangers to animals in this heat.

During extreme heat, like today, please consider bringing your outdoor pets inside. If it's not possible to bring your pets indoors, please provide adequate shade, water, and a way for your pets to get and keep cool. Kiddie pools are an inexpensive way to help your pets cool off. Frozen treats are easy and fun for your pets as well.

When walking your pets be sure to test the temperature of the pavement before starting your walk. If you can't safely leave your hand on the pavement for AT LEAST 10 seconds, it's too hot for your dog to walk on. We recommend walking your dogs in the early morning or later evening when it cooler weather.

Also, never, under any circumstances, leave your pet in the car when it's warm outside. On a 90-degree day, the interior temperature of a car can reach as high as 160 degrees in less than 10 minutes. We all love taking our dogs with us, and we know how much they love going for rides. But in these temperatures, it's best to keep them at home.
