Gillett Youth Football is an organization dedicated to ensuring that all youth interested in participating in Gillett football at all levels have the best experience possible. We accomplish this by supporting football programs for grades 4-12 by providing funds for equipment and facilities improvement, coordinating football activities, and coaching.

This past Friday, our JV team played their final game of the season at White Lake/Elcho. Despite their best efforts, Gillett lost by a score of 44-6.

On offense, they did have some good runs and a few passes caught to help move the drive down the field. We also we're able to have good starting field position, with some kickoff return yards. On defense there were tackles for a loss by different players. As well as good tackles and pass break ups along the way.

With each game this season. There have been new players, different guys that were getting in on plays for every game. The guys were always cheering for each other along the sideline.

Game Summary:

Mason, Chad, Cooper, Darryl and Gabe had good return yards thru out the game. That was able to give our offense good starting position. Runs were made by, Chad, Noah, Trevor. Both Chad and Trevor caught a pass. Chad scored the touchdown for the Tigers.

On defense, Mason and Dakota had tackles or a loss. Dakota also broke up a pass and helped to stop White Lake during their return yards, as well as Cooper H. Tackles were made by: Dakota, Gabe S., Trevor, Chad, Johnny S., Lawson K., Jackson S., and Mason.

This season has been filled with ups and downs. However, we know and have been watching the hard work and effort that all of you have put in every week.

We hope that all of you continue to put in the hard work and give šŸ’Æ effort into everything that you do for fhe rest of the school year. We're all proud of you! We look forward to seeing you on the field for next year's season!

Last night was Parent's Night and the last JV home game of the season. Our Tigers beat Bowler/Gresham by a score of 44- 6. It was a great game for all three phases of the game. We had great running plays, passes caught, an interception and a kickoff return for a touchdown. It was a total team effort and win. Hearing the guys yelling, cheering and being hyped up on the sideline was amazing! They've been doing that all season. But for last night's game, it was a different, more hyped atmosphere on the field. Even with the lopsided winning score. Our Tigers still kept up the pressure on their offense.

Being on the field for games can be an adventure at times. I have learned that I can back up from the field quickly. As there were times when plays have carried out of bounds. My main objective is to get (hopefully) good pictures and videos. As I stay out of the players and coaches way, whenever possible. Over the years, I have been able to hear some interesting and funny things being said. Whether it's the JH or the JV team, they've always been very nice and courteous to me
So, I thank all of you for that. One of the things that I remember hearing and just having to laugh was, watching one of the JV players. He picked up his helmet, took a sniff of the inside of it. Then he announced to whoever was around him, " my helmet smells like Cilantro. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚. That, I was not expecting. These guys are a great group of young men and it's been a privilege to watch all of you play.

Game Summary::

The majority of the running game was done by Chad S. , and Mason H. Mason had a few long runs. Noah K., and Chad caught a pass. Noah's catch was for a touchdown. Noah, Chad, Mason and Gabe S., all scored a touchdown as well. Dakota B., ran a kickoff return back for touchdown as well. #33, I'm think his name is Oknox, I'm not sure of the correct spelling of his name, I'm sorry about that. He kicked two extra points. Mason and Chad each scored a 2 pt. conversion.

On defense, our Tigers had a great game. They had a lot of tackles, some for a loss of yards and 4th down stops. Tackles were made by: Johnny S., Gabe S., Trevor S., Mason H., Lawson K., Chad S., Marcus K., Cooper H., Jackson S., Gauge H., Ounox, Darryl B. Dakota B. and Noah both had pass break ups. Mason hauled in an interception. Gauge, Mason, Lawson and Darryl did a good job with having great coverage and stops on kickoffs. It was a totally dominate game for all three phases of the game.

Keep up that same energy on ths field for this Friday's game at White Lake. Game time 7 PM. GO TIGERS

Yesterday our JH team finished their season with a tie game, 14-14, at Suring. Both teams played a good game. At halftime, Suring was ahead 14- 0. The Tigers didn't give up and was able to get the tying score towards the end of the game. Our Tigers had a lot of boys getting in on tackles. As well as breaking up some of Suring's pass attempts, recovering a fumble and some hard tackles for a loss of yards. Offensively, we had a couple of runners that had some great plays thru out the game. Our JH team finished the season 3-2-1. They never lost back to back games. That is a credit to both the players and their coaches. You could tell that after a disappointing loss. The boys were focused on the next game and ready to win. From what I could hear and see on the sideline, they responded well to any game time corrections that were being made. It's been a great season and at times, entertaining, fo watch all of you have fun on the field. I hope that all of you continue to have fun with your future sport teams this year. Enjoy the rest of the school year.

Game Summary:

On offense, the running was done by Brandon W., and Landon W. Brandon had a few long runs during the game. One of those long runs went for a touchdown. He scored both of the TD's and a 2 pt. conversion.

The defense helped out, with getting great tackles, tackles for a loss or quarterback pressures. Tackles were made by Aiden B., Landon W., Felix S., Finley B., Ryder V.,, Brandon W., Jase S., Jase F. Finley, Jase F., and Felix were able to break up passes. Brandon recoved a fumble.

Congratulations to our Gillett Tigers JV team on their dominating 44-6 win over Bowler/Gresham! What a great first win for our boys. Our JH team played their last game at Suring. They ended the game in a 14-14 tie.

Thank you to Rachel Mae at Pat's Market for the donation of candy bars for our Parent's Night. We gratefully appreciate your continued support for our Gillett Tigers football team.

On this coming Monday, Oct. 5th, both the JH and JV teams have a game. The JH team will be playing their last game of the season at Suring. Game time is 4:30.

The JV team will be playing Bowler/Gresham at home. The game time has changed from 6:00 to now starting at 6:30. It will also be Parents Night. Announcements will start at 6:00.

I want fo apologize for the late game day post. We've been busy babysitting our two grand doggies.

As I had said in the JH post. Monday was a great night for two football games. The JV picked up a game and played Sevastopol at home. They lost by a score of 36- 40.

That score definitely does not reflect how hard our Tigers fought for every touchdown and every yard. We started out the game with scoring the first touchdown. After that, the score went back and forth for a short time. In the 3rd quarter, the game started to get away from us. We were down 40-28. It was absolutely amazing to see our guys fight back with the determination to win. So within about a quarter and a half. They scored touchdowns to bring the game to within four points. One of the touchdowns, in the 4th quarter, came on a great kickoff return from Chad S. Our boys also had a fumble recovery and an interception. That interception led fo a Gillett touchdown drive.

They rallied together to come back from a 20 point deficit at one point. They were all hyped up and cheering for each other along the sideline. It was an exciting game to watch.

Game Summary:

The offense took the ball first and drove down. the field for the first touchdown by Trevor S. Chad S., scored the 2 pt. try. Noah K., Mason H., and Chad had some great runs thru out fhe whole game. All three of them had long runs to move the sticks. Chad and Noah both caught passes. Chad S., and Mason H. , both scored two touchdowns, Trevor S.,, and Noah scored a touchdown as well. Mason, Chad, Gabe S., and Cooper H. , helped give us good field position with their kickoff return yards.

While on defense they worked together to get tackles, an interception and fumble recovery. Tackles were made by Chad S., Trevor S., Gabe S. , Cooper H., Johnny S., Gauge H., Lawson K.,. Dakota B., Jackson S., Mason H. Marcus K. Chad recovered the fumble and Johnny S., had the interception, that led to a Tigers touchdown.

I will admit that the game was a little nerve wracking at times. It really was great to watch how hard they played. Have a great week of practice! Go Tigers šŸ…

What a great night for two football games yesterday. Our JH team won against Laona/Wabeno with a score of 38-26.

It was a total team effort and win for our Gillett Tigers. On offense the boys had a lot of great runs from different players. We had quite a few long runs, that both gained big yards and resulted in touchdowns. The offensive line did a great job holding their blocks. That way our runners could pick up yards, as well as having a pass caught.

On defense, our boys were just as focused for the whole game. We had multiple players that got in on tackles, a few tackles for a loss. They also were able fo get some pass break ups. Our Tigers also hauled in two interceptions and recovered a fumble. One of the interceptions led to a Tigers touchdown. They all did a great job working together as a team to get the win. Congratulations on your win! Keep up the positive energy and hard work. We look forward to cheering all of you on to another win next week, at Suring.

Game Summary:

On offense, it seemed like they couldn't stop our running game. We had long runs by Brandon W. and Landon W. Lucas M., Finley B., Jase F., , Aiden B., all helped move the ball down the field with good running plays. Ethan B., caught a pass for a 1st down.

Brandon W., scored four touchdowns and three 2 point conversions. Landon W., scored a touchdown and two 2 pt. conversion.

Our defense had a great game as well. We had a lot of different players making tackles, tackles for a loss or no yards gained. Tackles were made by Felix , Ryder, Finley, Landon W, Brandon W, Ethan, Jase S., Gunner, Jase F., William, . Tackles for a loss, hard tackles or no yards gained were made by Jase S., Brandon W., and Gunner B. Aiden, Finley, and Jase S. broke up their pass attempts.

As I said above, we had two interceptions. Lucas H., had one of the interceptions. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get the name of the player that got the other one. One of the interceptionss led to a Gillett touchdown. I was trying to get the jersey number, while also getting ready to film the next play. Ethan and Aiden both recovered fumbles.

Keep working hard in practice and be ready to get a another win for your last game of the season at Suring. Go Tigers!!
