Due to damage at the library community building we will be cancelling the spring card parties. We will be back in September with bingo and October with cards, watch for more information.

Gillett American Legion Auxiliary is once again hosting Sunday afternoon card parties. Join us Sunday February 23, March 2, 9, and 16 at the Library Community Center starting at 12:00 noon. $8.00 covers the cost of lunch and/or card play. Daily bucket raffles are available.

Looking for something to do on a windy Sunday afternoon?
Gillett American Legion Auxiliary is hosting a card party. Join us at noon for a spaghetti dinner followed by Smear, Sheephead, or Cribbage. Prizes awarded and various bucket raffles available.

Unit 300 had the honor of presenting American Legion Auxiliary grave markers to the families of deceased members Ruth Nass, Sharon Bergner, Mary Jean Tolzman, and Mavis Steffens on Memorial Day. A grave marker was also presented to the family of Judy Alford at her memorial service on Sunday. Thank you to the families for sharing memories of their loved ones.

Pat’s Market, Spirits of Gillett, Gillett Public Library, St. John’s Lutheran Church on Main Street, Oconto City Hall, Bond Center, NEW Credit Union, and Iverson’s Piggly Wiggly in Oconto Falls. Be on the lookout for additional locations, they could be anywhere.

Working on your fall cleaning and find you have an abundance of new and gently used shoes hiding in your closet or under your bed? Gillett American Legion Auxiliary Unit 300 can help you out. The unit is hosting a shoe drive now through October 12. Collection boxes can be found at New and Not So New Resale and Gillett Handiworks on Main Street in Gillett. New locations will be added so check back frequently.

Congratulations Gillett High School class of 2023. Our unit was pleased to attend Senior Scholarship and Awards Night on May 10 to recognize the following members of the senior class.
Halle Fisher and Andrew Rost were awarded military honor cords in recognition of their commitment to join the Marines.
Elsa Limberg and Isabella Matczak were awarded Badger Girl State stoles in recognition of their participation in the 2022 conference. Elsa attended as the representative for Gillett. Isabella was selected to be the Gillett alternate but was invited by the Abrams unit to represent them.
Christina Ciancio and Shae Stage were the recipients of the 2023 Gillett American Legion Auxiliary Unit 300 scholarships to be used to cover expenses relating to their pursuit of post-secondary education.

A big THANK YOU to Jackson from Cub Scout pack 4035 for his help distributing poppies this morning. After completing his morning shift he and his mom stopped by the cemetery near their house to pay their respects at the graves of the veterans and left pennies as a reminder of their visit.

Show your patriotic pride. Wear your red, white, and blue or organization uniform and join the scouts for a brief memorial march to honor our military past and present.

Cub Scout Pack 4035 will be marching from the high school to Memorial Park prior to the Memorial Day Service scheduled for 10:00 am on Memorial Day. All community and school organizations, emergency personnel, and individuals are encouraged to meet in the high school parking lot at 9:30 to join the memorial march. The cub scouts are hoping to bring back the tradition.
