Two weeks ago we were able to deliver 480 bundles of flour, sugar, and oil to Henderson Settlement in Eastern Kentucky. It's always such an awesome experience to make that trip and catch up with the community.

When we come home we are on fire for the mission of serving others. It's front and center on our minds. And then, after we are home, the world creeps back in.

We have been slow with projects lately. The team is ready to work. If you or someone you know needs a wheelchair ramp, please reach out.

James 2:17-18 says "In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accomplished by action, is dead. But someone will say, 'You have faith; I have deeds, show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.'"

We don't do any of this for us to be seen. We are just the hands that put the ramp together. We want you to see Christ is working in this community and beyond. We are blessed to be able to help. And we are ready.

I planned on taking pictures while we were here of the great group of people that work in the pantry where we unloaded the food. I didn’t. When we pulled up last night the great group of ladies from Indiana greeted us. (I forgot to get their pictures too)

These ladies from Indiana are hairdressers and manicurists. They actually visit the Settlement several times a year. They take appointments from the ladies of the area and do their hair and nails. Like a free spa day. Isn’t that an amazing way to serve? They are the sweetest, funniest and most heartwarming ladies you’ll ever meet.

The mission field is where the Holy Spirit leads you to serve with the gifts you’ve been given.

I did get a picture of Jerry Lambdin actually helping. Now, we all give Jerry a hard time about showing up when the work is done. Before you feel bad about us razzing him, know that he is usually the instigator. In his defense, Jerry helped unload the entire trailer today.

What you really need to know is that Jerry’s entire heart and soul is serving the families in Appalachia. He has been director for more than the fifteen years we’ve been going. Henderson Settlement is his life, its his home and we are proud to be a part of his family.

We’re on our way home after being filled with blessings and Buccee’s brisket sandwiches. Thank you again for all of your prayers and generosity. Thank you for blessing the people of Frankes and for blessing us with the opportunity to go.

Flour, sugar, and oil were loaded in this trailer and taken down to the Henderson Settlement. A few 2:18 Missions team members and volunteers got the work done quickly!

Thank you all again for your prayers and monetary support of our food drive fundraiser. Reach out if you know of anyone local needing a home project completed!

Our second stop was Buc-Cees for fuel and a snack. We are quite fond of the Beaver Chips. We just finished up dinner at Sonny’s BBQ and we’re making our way to the Settlement. What an amazing day!

The first stop on every trip we’ve taken to Henderson Settlement. On our way to deliver your generous donations.

Guys. You will not believe this.

We totaled up our donations today, and we are within a DOLLAR of our goal. With the help of our amazing community and friends and local churches we have raised $4050 for the food pantry at Henderson Settlement.

2:18 Missions will be filling a trailer up with flour, sugar, and oil at the Litchfield Aldi this week and will transport it to the settlement next weekend.

Philippians 4:19 says “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” And boy, did he do that. If you need a reason to believe in God today, here it is.

Thank you all for your prayers, shares, and monetary support. Keep your eyes on our page for pictures from our upcoming trip.

Over 15 years ago a group from the Methodist Church in Gillespie responded to a need in the community. People were needing home repairs, but weren’t financially able to hire someone to help. We stepped in.

We are still here if you need services and can’t financially pay for them. Please contact us.

We have done soffit repair, siding repair, step and porch repair, and ramps to name just a few. In Gillespie, Mt. Olive, Bunker Hill, Benld, Staunton, Carlinville and beyond. We really enjoy being able to help. We enjoy meeting new people and we actually like to hang out with each other. Which is a plus.

For years we also have taken on projects in the Appalachian mountains for people who are in the same situations as those we help at home. We love the people of Appalachia and we love their stories.

We also do food drives twice a year to get them the things we take for granted here at home. Sugar, flour and oil. They have a truck that provides food for the pantry, but those three items are too hard to get.

To put it into perspective, we have a Casey’s every two miles here. To get to civilization from where we provide supplies in the mountains is over an hour either way if you have the transportation, with small little understocked convenience (?) stores scattered about sparingly.

We will be leaving to stock their pantry with your generous contributions in a little over a week. We are so grateful for everything you’ve donated. We are really close to our goal and I would love to obliterate that thermometer. Again, we are so thankful for your support through the years. If you know of anyone who is in need of assistance, please contact us.
