With all the confusion going on, we are going to try to answer some of the questions and rumors swirling around our town and surrounding towns.
The City of Gillespie did NOT "kick" us off of main street. In 2020 when Covid happened, we worked as hard as we could to ensure that the festival could push forward. However, a former city council member informed our committee that due to several main street projects occurring throughout the coming years that they were unsure if they could approve us hosting on main street. Which inturn, made us make the difficult decision to move to the Gillespie Lake. When faced with either move to a different location or not have it at all, we obviously chose to move. We were also informed by the same entity that if and when we moved off of main street, that we would no longer be able to hold the licensing to close a state road, due to being " grandfathered" in with the state. Essentially, use it or lose it.
After a few years of research and a new committee elected for the City of Gillespie and further research on their end, it was determined that everything that had been told to us was simply untrue.
We have also faced several other issues that we hope are resolved or can be in the near future. We ask that you bear with us and join our committee to share your ideas and thoughts and ask questions if you are interested.
