Lakes Region Disabled Sports

Lakes Region Disabled Sports The Lakes Region Disabled Sports program is an opportunity for people with a disability and their fa Volunteers are the heart and soul of the program.

Making it Happen

Participants bring the courage and desire to face a new challenge in outdoor activity. Donating their time and enthusiasm, volunteers ensure that the Lakes Region Disabled Sports program can accommodate growing numbers of students. Volunteers reflect that helping a challenged person focus on what they can accomplish, is the most rewarding work they have ever done. The Lakes Regio

n Disabled Sports Center is the brown building located in the base area behind the main lodge at Gunstock Ski Area. LRDS operates from mid-December to the end of March. The Lakes Region Disabled Sports program is a 501.c3 non-profit sub chapter of Move United. We receive tremendous support from the Gunstock Ski Area as well as other local businesses and private individuals. Spirit of Participation

At Lakes Region Disabled Sports, we proudly sponsor special events like Winter Sports Clinic for Disabled Veterans, the Diana Golden/Mills Cup Race, and fund raising events for our own adaptive sports program. How Can I Help? The Lakes Region Disabled Sports program helps challenged people participate in outdoor sports. Volunteers and funding are two requisites for the program to succeed. You can help the program by volunteering your time. Volunteers receive training in adaptive equipment, adaptive teaching techniques, and instruction to improve their own skills. Perhaps sports are not you interest, but you would still like to help? Volunteers are needed to staff the office and organize or assist during fundraisers. You may prefer to make a tax-deductible contribution.

Thank you Recycled Percussion! I am very excited to donate this to our program.

Mary Michaud opened her mystery box today and discovered the golden envelope holding $1000. 1 envelope. 1 person out of 500. And somehow it landed exactly where it was always meant to be. Mary didn’t hesitate. She immediately decided to donate every single dollar to Lakes Region Disabled Sports at Gunstock, the organization she sits on the board for and pours her heart into. That is who she is. Someone who receives and gives right back. Someone who chooses impact over celebration. Someone who remembers that a moment of luck can become a moment of change for someone else. I am moved by her kindness and the way her decision will ripple through lives. Mary, thank you for showing all of us what generosity looks like in real time. If you want to learn more about the organization she chose to give this to, here is the website for Lakes Region Disabled Sports at Gunstock https://lradaptive.org
