Submission and Honor - The Way to Greatness
Mark 9:35 Living Bible (TLB)

35 He sat down and called them around him and said, “Anyone wanting to be the greatest must be the least—the servant of all!”
Did you know in the Kingdom the way up is down. You have to humble yourself and learn. I think one of the most ridiculous things perhaps I have ever heard someone say that felt they were called to the ministry is: I don't want to learn. Is this you? If this you please take your name off the candidates for ministry list. You'll never make it in the ministry.

There are people that will join themselves to your ministry and as soon as you give them an assignment they start complaining, they are uncooperative, insubordinate. And Lord will tell me as quick as I assigned them, get them out of there and do it quickly. Don't allow them to do anything else that affects ministry. They are not submitted to me, so they surely listen to you or anyone else.

You have to put yourself in a position of being a disciple.
You know I am very seldom at my home church because my ministry requires I minister to others in various places around the world. However, when I visit my home church I am there to serve, I am there to learn and submit.

I don't lose anything by submitting, because I realize that is the process of greatness. Many don't understand this principle and will get an attitude in a second because they don't want to be told what to do. I just smile and shake my head because they are going nowhere fast.

The bible says, Whoever will be great among you let him be your servant. You may have heard the term before. We call it servant-leadership. This is interesting because God in His great wisdom, uses this method to eliminate people with the wrong motive, as they pout and take their red ball, crayons and marbles in the house, because they got angry and didn't get their way.
I am here to serve. I may hold the microphone but I am serving you.

To serve means you have SOMEONE over you, as you submit to that authority.

But it's less about the person in authority and more about the position the person holds in the REALM of authority. Very few understand this principle because they are only concerned about positions and titles in the natural.

It's not about the position in the natural, but in the realm of authority in the spirit realm.

For example King Nebuchadnezzar held the position in the natural, but Daniel out ranked him in the Spirit. Let that soak!
Because of the ranking Daniel held in the Spirit, the King had to submit.

If you are submitting you may not always like the person in position, agree, or understand. But, because of the position you have to submit, respect and honor. You are destined to be great. But understand, the way up is down.

God never promotes a person until they first become servants.
When authority and submission are not in place and protocol is not observed the spirit of rebellion and insurrection reigns.
Submission helps us to stay under cover and therefore protected and out of reach from certain spiritual attacks.

Submission is an attitude, a mentality, not an action.
Joseph was the only solution to the recession that hit the world. The King had the position. He had to submit to the superior position in the realm of authority (spiritually). Because of the position Joseph submitted, respected and honored and God promoted. So, you see how this works. To get authority you have be under authority or the devil will not respect anything that comes out of your mouth. You are considered a vagabond spiritually, like the seven sons of sceva.

Doesn't matter if you like the President or not, you have to submit, honor and respect or you disrespect, dishonor and refuse to submit to the one who said, in Romans 13:1 Obey the government, for God is the one who has put it there. There is no government anywhere that God has not placed in power. 2 So those who refuse to obey the laws of the land are refusing to obey God, and punishment will follow. 3 For the policeman does not frighten people who are doing right; but those doing evil will always fear him. So if you don’t want to be afraid, keep the laws and you will get along well. 4 The policeman is sent by God to help you. But if you are doing something wrong, of course you should be afraid, for he will have you punished. He is sent by God for that very purpose. 5 Obey the laws, then, for two reasons: first, to keep from being punished, and second, just because you know you should.

And if someone in authority is doing wrong God will see to it that justice is served, as it pertains to the righteous.

You can not disrespect anyone that has the position of authority, because it's less about them and more about how it affects you down the road. I have never seen so much disrespect from the youth of this generation.

You see, just because you are recognized on earth, does not mean you are recognized in heaven. Honor recognizes you in heaven. That's why we must honor our parents, our leaders, ministry heads, government, the elderly, etc. You are headed for greatness, but if you disrespect someone that God tells you to honor, you are only hurting yourself.

For example, when you are part of a ministry, or serve in church, work for an employer, have a spouse, have a parent or a grandparent, etc the bible says in Hebrews 13:17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and SUBMIT yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is UNPROFITABLE for you. Also read, Eph 6:5-9; Eph 5:10; Eph 5:21.

Some obey with an attitude. But when you do it with an attitude and complain under your breathe it's no longer submission and therefore you are not under authority and lose your covering. Just the place that your adversary wants you, so you can give Satan legal right to attack you and yours. Not a place to be with disease and calamity affecting the lives of so many around the world.

But one can not honor what they do not recognize or recognize what they have no capacity to see the value of.

The reason people disrespect others is because they don't see the value. Failure to honor and recognize authority opens one up to disregarding it's importance, losing the value of it's importance, disrespecting those in position of authority, devaluing and despising them in the process and sabotaging their own growth and greatness.

I've seen it in the business world as well as in ministry. People are ambitious and therefore have their own agendas that are not always honorable or godly. I mean I worked with people who were so disingenuous and would lie at the drop of a hat or stab you in the back, to move up. But, I will tell you in a minute, I am the wrong one, because God always watches out for me. A man did that to me when I managed for a Brokerage firm, Charles Schwab and Company, in San Francisco. This man and another manager conspired to take me down for political reasons. And it was not even 6 months and he suffered a heart attack. And a few weeks later they moved me into his office and I was promoted. When the man returned he was no longer a manger and had to listen to me because now I was over the entire center and was given a 25 million dollar budget. God promised to never leave us nor forsake us and that he would always be our helper.

Believe it or not, I've even seen it in mega-churches and if I mentioned the name you would faint. These leaders would do anything to get ahead or to get close to the head man, in charge. I watched them blatantly lie and cheat, because they were carnal, envious, jealous men, who had no regard for God's people or His Word. But God's Word declares a man's gift will make room for him/her and cause them to stand before great men. I mean these people would LIE like God did not exist and to top it off, others in leadership and on the board would stand there and be totally complicit. They had no backbone whatsoever and the cowards they are were to afraid to speak up. What a disgrace!

If you really want to do something great come under submission and serve. Honor and respect people or you will fall. This is a spiritual law.

Look at what God promised Abraham in Genesis 12:2 - 3. AMP
1 Now [in Haran] the Lord said to Abram, Go for yourself [for your own advantage] away from your country, from your relatives and your father’s house, to the land that I will show you.
2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you [with abundant increase of favors] and make your name famous and distinguished, and you will be a blessing [dispensing good to others].
3 And I will bless those who bless you [who confer prosperity or happiness upon you] and [a]curse him who curses or uses insolent language toward you; in you will all the families and kindred of the earth be blessed [and by you they will bless themselves].

I have never seen so much ignorance among those that profess to be Christians. They not only have disregard for leaders, they speak very badly of Israel. I mean do people know anything? These are God's chosen people. God said to Abraham I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you. He is speaking of Abraham and his seed. His seed is Israel and the Devil is influencing the world to speak against them, in order to bring nations under the judgement of God.

Lastly, do you know why Jesus had to wait 30 years before He started His ministry? Because in order to obtain Authority as the Son of God, He first had to humble himself and submit to the Prime Minister, that is John the Baptist and so when John says who am I to baptize you. I am not worthy. Notice Jesus' response, permit it to be so. And submitted to John the Baptist. When he did the Holy Spirit descended upon Jesus and God honored him and said this is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. And you know the outcome, God highly exalted him and gave him a name which is above every name. To receive authority you must first submit to authority.

So you understand why so many ministry leaders fail? They are trying to run the church like the world. They want to be everyone's boss. Many are prideful, dishonest, untrustworthy and have no integrity. God will never use these individuals.

In the spirit realm the way up is down and the way down is up. Humble yourselves under the might hand of God that He might exalt you in due season.

Let Patience Work For You!

But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

James 1:4

I talk a lot about faith. But there’s another force that goes along with it that’s just as important. It’s patience—the ability to stand fast on the Word of God even when your victory seems slow in coming.

Patience is not automatic. It won’t go to work unless you let it go to work. So many people don’t understand that. They somehow think faith and patience will go to work for them without their help. They just let the devil tear their lives apart and then they say silly things like, “Well, I guess God sent that trial to strengthen my faith.”

Don’t you ever get caught saying that!

In the first place, James says, “Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God...” (James 1:13). And in the second place, that trial isn’t going to make your faith stronger. In fact, it’ll destroy it if you’ll let it.

If I were to give you a set of weights, would that set of weights make you any stronger? No. As a matter of fact, if you dropped one of them on your foot, you could end up painfully weaker. It’s what you do with them that counts, right?

Well, the same thing is true when you run into some kind of trying circumstance the devil’s brought your way. If you just lie down and let it run over you, it will damage and crush you. But if you’ll let patience have her perfect work, if you’ll remain consistently constant, trusting in and relying confidently on the Word of God, you’ll end up perfect and entire, wanting nothing. This means He will meet your every need. He will see to it that you are successful and nothing shall by any means harm you. Think about it, you will lack nothing.

“Wanting nothing.” That phrase alone should convince you that patience is no consolation prize. It’s a first-rate power that will put the promises of God within your reach. It’s a force that will make a winner out of you.

The Righteousness of Faith SPEAKS!

For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of the law, “The man who DOES those things shall live by them.” But the righteousness of faith SPEAKS.

I remember going to church as a youngster and someone would inevitably say I have an unspoken request. Hate to be the barer of bad news, but an unspoken prayer is an unanswered prayer. Jesus said, when you pray, you say! Don't shout me down because I'm preaching good. If you are a Christian, you must use your mouth.

Romans 10:5–6
Let me say something about faith. You cannot have faith without speaking it.

When you study Romans 10, you will notice that it says that “the righteousness which is of the law . . . DOES . . . But the righteousness of faith SPEAKS.” The law is about DOING, whereas faith is about SPEAKING.

It is not enough to just know in your mind that you are righteous. It is not enough to just read this chapter or hear a sermon on righteousness and mentally agree that you are righteous. You need to open your mouth and SAY by faith, “I am the righteousness of God in Christ” (2 Cor. 5:21).

There are so many church goers who are trying to convince God they are worthy by works or trying to do the law. Many of the leaders of these churches are (sorry to say) ignorant because they have never been educated or discipled properly.

Righteousness means to have right standing before God, as though sin never existed. But many are stuck in the Old Testament and are trying to DO the ten commandments. It's called the New Testament for a reason. There is no altar in the NT. No more sacrifices. Jesus took away sin once and for all by the sacrifice of himself. This means when you realize He became sin for us who knew no sin, that we might become the righteousness of God by faith. And when you believe this, you will speak. It's called the law of confession.

This is where many believers are missing out on the blessing of Abraham. They are not speaking their righteousness by faith.

Our first response to a trying situation is very important. Our first response when we discover a symptom in our body, when we receive a bad report, or when we are faced with a trial, should always be to say, “I am the righteousness of God in Christ.”

Come on now, this is where the rubber meets the road. This is when we need to speak it. You need to not only know that you are righteous, you need to believe and speak your righteousness in Christ. It is not faith until you speak it!

Paul said, “And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, ‘I believed and therefore I spoke,’ we also believe and therefore speak” (2 Cor. 4:13). The spirit of faith is clearly about believing and speaking.

So it does not matter how many sermons or books on righteousness you have heard and read. You need to believe it and SPEAK it.

When you fail and fall short of the law’s perfect standard, that is the time you should exercise your faith to say, “I am the righteousness of God in Christ.” At that very moment when you are seething in anger at your spouse, or when you have just lost your cool on the road, it takes faith to say that you are righteous because you know that you have missed it. God said, I am He that blotteth out thy sins for my own names sake, and I will remember them no more!

And you know what? The moment you say it, even if you are still in the midst of your anger, you will feel like you have ushered something good into that situation. You take a step back and start to relax, and the anger dissipates as you begin to realize your true identity in Christ. That is what it means to be IN CHRIST. If any man be IN CHRIST he is a new creation. Old thing are passed away and behold, all things have become new.

Men, if you see a sc****ly clad woman on television or on the cover of a magazine and you are tempted, what is your first response? Are you sin-conscious or righteousness-conscious?

Sin-consciousness will draw you to succumb to your temptation, whereas righteousness-consciousness gives you the power to overcome every temptation. It is such a slap in the face to Jesus for people in our churches to waste all their time, crying and pleading to God to search them for some hidden sin that they may have committed. When you make a mistake as a Christian, you know it immediately. Acknowledge your mistake before the Lord and keep moving forward. He is faithful and just to forgive you of your sin and cleanse you from all unrighteousness. Don't listen to people that try to keep on the altar all week long confessing your sins over and over. Don't allow someone to keep you sin-conscious, because as a man thinks in his heart, so is he! This only brings bo***ge.

That is why the enemy wants to keep you sin-conscious. Confessing your sins all the time keeps you sin-conscious. It is as if Jesus did not become your sin on the cross.

Righteousness-consciousness keeps you conscious of Jesus. Every time you SPEAK it, you magnify the work of Jesus on the cross.

So believe and SPEAK the truth: “I am the righteousness of God in Christ.” Then, you cannot help but see the results of magnifying the Lord Jesus and His finished work! No my friend, Jesus paid for your sin and satisfied the claims of justice. There is no SIN problem, only the sinner problem. To rid yourself of the sin problem all one must do is acknowledge and believe that Jesus bore their sins in his own body on the cross that we being dead to sin, should live unto righteousness. By whose stripes I was healed. That's right when you SPEAK and declare your right standing in Jesus, it will affect your body also and you will cause healing to come also. Wow, that is some awesome teaching. Come on and say it with me. I am the righteousness of God in Christ. Because of what Jesus did on the cross. Amen!

Pushing you closer to your destiny!

And his master [Potiphar] saw that the LORD was with him [Joseph] and that the LORD made all he did to prosper in his hand.

Genesis 39:3
Do you know of anyone who is in a worse situation than Joseph when he stood naked in an Egyptian market, waiting to be sold as a slave? His whole world appeared to have collapsed around him.

Just a few days earlier, he was in his father’s embrace but now, his own brothers had betrayed him. All that he owned had been stripped from him. He was reduced to nothing more than a slave in a foreign land.

Was this the end of Joseph? In the natural scheme of things, it sure looked like it was. But even with the odds stacked up against Joseph, the Lord was far from finished. Even in this dire situation, the Lord was with Joseph, and at this dark and bleak juncture in Joseph’s life, the Lord called him a successful man (Gen. 39:1–2)!

Remember, it is not what you have. It is who you have that makes all the difference.

“How can the Lord make a young slave with not a single cent or possession to his name succeed?”

Well, let’s continue with Joseph’s story. Genesis 39:3 tells us, “And his master [Potiphar] saw that the LORD was with him [Joseph] and that the LORD made all he did to prosper in his hand.” This is a powerful statement and it offers a promise that you can believe Jesus for, in every area of your life.

Can you imagine every project, assignment, and even errand that you undertake becoming prosperous? Your hands become hands of blessing.

You touch your family members and they are blessed. Your company may be struggling to manage a difficult project, but once it is placed in your hands, the project becomes blessed. You become a blessing waiting to happen to someone, waiting to happen to something, everywhere you go!

Now, how will this happen? The Lord Jesus will make it happen when you depend on Him in the same way that Joseph depended on Him.

Joseph had nothing. He could not trust in his skills or experience (he had never been a slave), nor could he trust in his natural connections (his father was out of the picture because he believed that Joseph had been killed by a wild animal). All Joseph had was the Lord’s presence, and he depended on the Lord to manifest His presence, His power, and His glory through him!

That’s what you and I need—a manifestation of His presence in everything that we do! You see, it is one thing to have His presence (all Christians have His presence because they have accepted Him as their personal Lord and Savior), but when His presence is made manifest in your life, that’s when His glory shines forth through you!

You remember when Joseph shared his dream to his brothers. Rather than embrace him, they became jealous and pushed him away. Not only did they push him away, they also placed him in a deep pit and sold him into slavery to Egypt. What a predicament he found himself in. Perhaps you find yourself in a similar situation where no one is trustworthy and it seems everyone has turned their backs on you or disowned you. Well, I have great news for you. Although Joseph may have been pushed away, he discovered that God was always with him. I want you to pay attention to this theme.

Potiphars's wife was attracted to Joseph, and apparently liked Joseph's cologne and tried to seduce him. When he refused her advances, she lied to her husband, a very powerful man and Joseph was thrown into prison. Have you ever been lied on. I have... But as you know the story doesn't end there. This dreamer while in jail kept on trusting and one day the King (Pharoah) had a dream and could not interpret it. An acquaintance told the King about Joseph and He was suddenly called upon and interpreted the dream. What am I saying? One day he was in prison and the next day he was suddenly promoted to second in command (the prime minister) and was thrust into his dream. God is able to change your circumstance over night. God is able to reverse your circumstances overnight. He heal you over night. And don't you worry about the evil person that is responsible for putting you there. When you are a child of God, no one can stop you from reaching your destiny but you.

You see Joseph had a dream and when he tried to share it with small minded people he learned that some places, some peoples minds are just too small for the vision God gave. Hence, they reject your vision. But here is the good news. When people reject the children of God they are pushing them closer to their destiny. If you have been pushed away and your are a child of God, you are one step closer to reaching your destiny. I think I will Amen myself.

You remember David. He was also rejected by his brothers. I mean the Prophet came to the house of Jesse to anoint the next king and they didn't even invite him. Come on, his family did not recognize him. Have you ever been left out, excluded by your own family? How about church people? We call them the Aints! Do they treat you different because you are not part of their denomination or because you couldn't make the meeting because of other obligations. I've seen it all folks. Jealous people will lie, cheat, & steal right in front of your face. And I am talking about church people too. You better keep your eyes on the Jesus!

David's father told him to take some food to his eldest brother, when he was on the battlefield, facing the Philistines and the giant Goliath. At this time in his life he had already received the anointing from the Prophet to be King and when he arrived, the bible says Eliab (his older brother) burned with jealousy and he pushed him away, saying why are you here? But I want you to see the theme here. He was reject! When people push you away, they are pushing you closer to your destiny. Can you see what's been happening to you now?

It is said of Jesus the stone which the builders have REJECTED, the same has become the head of the corner. I think I am preaching better than you are saying Amen. The bible says He came unto his own and his own received him not. But as many as received him to them gave he power to become Sons and Daughters of God. When they rejected Jesus they pushed him closer to his destiny, where you and I could take our place and become part of the family of God. Like Joseph, David and Jesus when people reject you, you are being pushed to your greatest hour. God is using your enemy to push into your DESTINY.

My friend, God wants to make everything you do prosper, just like He did for Joseph. See Him leading and blessing you, and increasing your effectiveness today!
