Reading failure is highly preventable!

The Problem:
Dyslexia affects about 20% of our population, 1 in 5, but most teachers have very little knowledge on this common condition. Children do not outgrow reading failure as commonly thought. Of children who displayed reading problems in first grade, 74% will be poor readers in the ninth grade and into adulthood unless they receive direct, explicit, multi-sensory instruction.

yed adults have reading and writing difficulty.
70% of US prison inmates cannot read above a 4th grade level. Brain research proves that with the proper, research-based instruction, these bright individuals can learn to read and spell just like everyone else. The problem we find is not everyone can afford the private tutoring that is needed to close the reading gap. As a solution, the Literacy First Foundation will raise funds for dyslexia screenings, low-cost tutoring, and parent education classes to help empower families.
