Friends Place Bookstore WHO ARE WE? Since 1968, Friends has been an active community volunteer group. In 2007, we extended our support of the Perry Branch. WHERE ARE WE? WHAT ARE WE?

At first it was known as the Gilbert Public Library Associations, then Friends of Gilbert Public Library and since 1999, Friends of the Southeast Regional Library. In December 2017, we shortened our name to Friends of Gilbert Libraries. In December of 2023, we shortened it again to Friends Place Bookstore. Inside the lobby of the Southeast Regional Library. ion who supports our two local libraries. We promote and encourage volunteering. WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO? The profits of Friends Place Bookstore finance additional library services that are not part of the general library budget. The summer reading program has historically received the majority of these funds. We also support Gilbert's School libraries. Each year we give up to ten $1,000 scholarships and one Al and Donna Petersen memorial scholarship of $1,500 to high school seniors who currently reside in the Town of Gilber or attend a Gilbert High School. HOW DO WE DO THIS? We accomplish this with an all volunteer staff who dedicate over 6200 hours each year. Donations of books and media from the surrounding communities has help raise thousands of dollars for our libraries. Please consider becoming a volunteer at Friends Place Bookstore.
