It's bedtime at my house and I thought I would give you a little insight to what that might look like with 10 dogs... yes, 10. One of these dogs, Sage, will soon be ready for adoption. She and Ruby recently moved into the house from the Co-Op Kennel room. Sage is learning her manners in a home, which will make her easier to house train with a new family. She has no issues running into her "condo" or "room" (we try not to say "crate") of which she has two, one in the bedroom and one in the living room. More videos on Sage in the next few days.

2026-04-16: FOUND dog at 1500 S Apache Road, Buckeye AZ, Southwest corner of Yuma & Apache. It has been hunkered down a few days outside someone's home. It was trapped today and is currently at my rescue and will soon be transferred to another rescue on a stray hold. It is chipped, but we are being told the owner attached to the chip no longer owns the dog and has no further details. Does this dog look familiar to anyone?

I haven't shared Alice "Ally's" story yet, and although I'm working on a video, I wanted to tell you about this sweet little girl. She's about 8 months old and arrived at the Co-Op on February 5th with a very sore, swollen left eye.

I immediately took her to the ER to get her medication and eye drops to alleviate her pain. While we suspected she'd need her eye removed, our ophthalmologist appointment confirmed that she was indeed in pain and that enucleation was the best course of action. That surgery, along with her spay, took place today.

Ally will need about 1-2 weeks to recover. It's always difficult to see our Co-Op rescues go through such invasive procedures, but it's ultimately for their long-term well-being. Ally's vet bills have reached $2,788 so far, and I anticipate more expenses in the coming weeks.

She'll be available for adoption once she's fully recovered, unless she bonds with her Nurse Nana, of course (lol!). As always, caring for these precious animals comes with costs, and any donation, no matter the size, is greatly appreciated.

****SPOILER ALERT****

Rocky was officially adopted last night, January 28, 2026. The following story is how it all unfolded:

On Monday, January 26th, I drove to Phoenix with Rocky to the Veterinary Neurological Center for a consultation regarding his injuries. Meanwhile, Laurie, Cooper’s Co-Op Kennel Master, was heading to Mesa with Momma Nita and Ruby for their spay appointments. The original plan was for me to meet Laurie, hand over Rocky after his consultation for her to transport back to the Co-Op, and then I would run errands in Mesa, including a stop at PetSmart of course, while waiting for Momma Nita and Ruby to complete their spay procedures.

However, I decided to leave Rocky at the Center for radiographs, an MRI, and a CT scan. This meant he wouldn't be ready to go to the Co-Op until later that afternoon. Since I couldn’t transport all three dogs in the late afternoon or make another three-hour round trip, I asked if Rocky could stay overnight and I would pick him up the following day.

The imaging results indicated that spinal surgery would be the best course of action for Rocky, with an estimated cost of $10,000. Unfortunately, these are not funds we have available at the Co-Op. After discussing alternative care options besides surgery, it was decided that Rocky would be on strict crate rest for at least 30 days. He would then return for a follow-up to assess the condition of his destabilized L6 vertebra and the progress of its self-stabilization. This extra time would also allow me to try and raise donations for his surgery or try and find a medical-inclined rescue.

Since it was decided he would stay overnight, that's when and why the "Best Thing Ever" happened. A Veterinary Technician fell in love with Rocky during his overnight stay. Had he not stayed, he wouldn't have found his furever home. His adoptive parents are familiar with special needs dogs and already care for three other dogs in their home. They were committed to giving Rocky the best they could, which included proceeding with the spinal surgery, which is scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, January 30th.

I'm truly amazed and incredibly grateful that this all came together for Rocky's benefit. I'm at a loss for words to express my immense gratitude to everyone who has stepped up for him. I appreciate all the donations and the grant from the Two Pups Wellness Fund. Even comments of support and reactions to posts are incredibly encouraging, as not all support needs to be financial. I hope to share more updates about Rocky's journey with his new parents and his new furry siblings.

A BIG SHOUT OUT TO Two Pups Wellness Fund!!!

I want to THANK the wonderful people at Two Pups for their recent Grants to help cover a major part of the expensive costs for two of Cooper's Co-Op pups in our care.

TITO, our 4-month old Chihuahua that had three surgeries in 4 days over Christmas costing us over $2,000 for his Re**al Prolapse caused by Giardia & Coccidia in his body. He has made a full recovery and will be available for adoption soon!

ROCKY, our newest member of the Co-Op, needed an urgent assessment with Radiographs, MRI, CT Scan, and blood & urine tests which costs close to $5,000. Rocky was hit by a car which caused spinal injuries, a fractured hip, and a possible bleed out from his spleen. At the moment he does not have full control over his back legs and has mild incontinence.

We truly appreciate and value Foundations such as Two Pups that assist small Rescues like us. Urgent and ongoing medical care for neglected and stray dogs can be extremely expensive and to know that we have Two Pups as a partner to help back us is very important in saving dogs lives. Thank you Two Pups for being part of the Cooper's Co-Op Family...
