Pierce Transit's Proposition 1 would increase the agency's sales tax from 0.6% to 0.9%. Locally, proceeds would increase service on Route 100 and revive both a holiday shuttle and the Waterfront Connector service.

Under state law, lodging tax revenue must be used to promote tourism. In 2027, most of the lodging tax revenue collected in the city of Gig Harbor will go to the Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber of Commerce, as the city's tourism marketing arm, will get $442,000. Seven other groups will split the remaining $170,000.

The measures do NOT require the city to allow apartments or other multifamily housing in areas where it's not currently allowed.

The target area for the multifamily tax exemption program is the entirety of Gig Harbor, but the program does not require the city to change current zoning.

Two massive games next week match the four remaining teams that are unbeaten in Puget Sound League games:

🏈 Lakes (6-1, 4-0) at Peninsula (5-2, 4-0)

REMINDER: The intersection of 56th Street and 38th Avenue closes at 7 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17. It will re-open at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18.

Installing a new sewer line under the busy intersection is more complicated than expected, so the city will need to close it to traffic all weekend.
