Peter Elwin John Linda and big Al were there with their trucks and big Alan's M151 Mutt. There was a unrestored Aircraft Tug used by the RAF during the war and finally a very rare 1952 Bedford K series Spurling bodied bus of which only two were built. We can’t think of a better way to start the weekend with The Southwick Revival 2026 where the village of Southwick time warped back to June of 1944 on the 82nd anniversary of the D-Day landings. This is where operation Overlord, The invaision of Normandy all began! Like many back to the 40s events the in England, community came out and for two days it was 1944 again with living history (Duty Calls , Frontline To Film Living History@514th QM Truck Regiment L.H.G.) Reenactors and town residents in period dress, military vehicle displays, lectures, music and a vehicle parade through town. Captain America was there as with Sir Winston Churchill and Field Marshall Montgomery(Montys Double). They even managed to recreate the weather as it rained there too just like back in 44. To quote our friends at South Hampshire Military Vehicle Trust.” In true British fashion, however, our spirits were never dampened by a little rain—the very thing that helps keep our countryside so green and pleasant” For you history buffs this is where D Day started. The village of Southwick served as the nerve center for Operation Overlord in 1944. Allied commanders finalized the Normandy invasion strategies right inside House.. As always, we ask you to click on the links to see what great thing these organization do insuring nobody forgets what the greatest Generation in both countries did in the name of freedom. Last weekend was a busy weekend with shows in England and of course the D Day commemorations in France. Here in the U.S. was the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum 2026 WWII Weekend, This is one of the biggest Airshows in the Country where you can find Warbirds, Reenactors, living History displays and of course military vehicles. The weekend started with the Annual Mid-Atlantic Air Museum World War II Mid-Day Parade through downtown Reading Pa. then off to the Airshow where turnout and weather was great dispite the storm the came through Saturday. There was a cool photo of FiFi during the storm that could of been taken in 1944 on Saipan or Tinian. As for the warbirds, The Commemorative Air Force was well represented as you could find Stang’s, a Cobra, Pt 19, Michells, Dakodas/Skytrains, Corsairs, a Black Widow and both big boys FiFi and Sentimental Jurney. There were also plenty of living history and reenactor groups staring with Royal Hungarian Army 9th Light Division, Wheels of Liberation, WWII 101st A/B 501st PIR S-2 Preservation Association , Hattori Han, Kita Buntai Canada, Suigyuu Butai Philippines, 101st Airborne LHG , 9th Infantry Division WWII Historical Preservation Society, Polish American Living History Association, Sanitäts Kompanie 200,The Geronimo Foundation, Inc. and WWII Airborne Demonstration Team to name a few. In the evening you could hear the sounds of Benny Goodman and other wartime music and dancing at the Stage Door Canteen. Of course, military vehicle both Allied and Axis. Preserving Wartime aircraft as with military vehicles is about keeping history alive and ensuring the greatest generation is not forgotten. As always we ask you to click on the links to see what great things these groups do in preserving our heritage and history.
