AMOS Health + Hope

AMOS Health + Hope AMOS is a Christian healthcare organization dedicated to bringing health and hope to underserved communities in rural Nicaragua. http://www.amoshealth.org

AMOS Health and Hope is a non-profit faith based organization dedicated to improving the health of poor and marginalized rural populations. We use the strategy of community based primary health care to increase health care coverage in areas with limited services. We train lay health workers in rural communities to manage and run their own community clinic, prevent and treat the most common illness

es, and work in community development to address the root causes of poor health such as access to safe water and sanitation. We currently serve a population of over 28,000 people in 25 communities in four departments in Nicaragua – Boaco, Chinandega, Matagalpa, the RACCS, and Managua. We have an incredible staff of medical and public health professionals that accompany, supervise and monitor the health work being done in rural communities. We are committed to implementing interventions that are evidence-based, compassionate and empowering for communities.

Today, Nicaragua celebrates Mother’s Day. 💙

While Mother’s Day is celebrated on a different date in the United States, here in Nicaragua, May 30 is a special day to honor mothers and the love, care, and strength they bring to their families and communities.

At AMOS, we also want to honor the women who are beginning this journey.

These photos are from the first gathering of the Pregnancy Club, a space to learn, ask questions, receive support, and remember that no mother should go through this season alone.

To every mother, mother-to-be, grandmother, caregiver, and woman who nurtures life in her family and community: thank you for your love, strength, and hope.

Happy Nicaraguan Mother’s Day!

This month, we witnessed moments of learning, service, celebration, and community:

A Villa Guadalupe Clinic patient whose success story we’ll be sharing with you soon.
Health volunteers enjoying a space to learn, share, and grow together.
Two Seeds of Hope scholarship recipients celebrating their graduation.
Our first gathering of the Pregnancy Club.

Every photo tells a small part of a much bigger story — one made possible by local leaders, health workers, volunteers, and supporters who believe in health and hope for all.

Thank you for being part of this work in Nicaragua.

Sofía’s smile tells a bigger story.

Her story is a reminder that hope is made possible in many ways — through early care, steady support, and people who choose to help.

Today we celebrate nurses — and those who are on their way to becoming one.
At AMOS, nursing looks many different ways: it’s the nurse who shows up to care for patients with skill and compassion. It’s the nursing student who is already putting their knowledge to work in the communities that need it most. And it’s the nurse who turns around and shares what they know — training community health volunteers so that care can reach even further.
This is how health multiplies. This is how hope spreads.
To every nurse, student, and health volunteer in our AMOS family: thank you for the role you play in building healthier communities in Nicaragua. 💙

Grateful for every mother, every child, and every act of care that reaches a family with hope. At Samaritan Clinic, care is never just about one person. It touches mothers, children, and whole families in moments that matter most. This Grateful Monday, we’re thankful for the people and support that help make this care possible — and soon, we’ll be sharing more of that story. Made possible together. 🙏💙

Mother’s Day is also a reminder that care grows stronger when it is shared.

Thank you to every mother, caregiver, community leader, staff member, and supporter who helps make health and hope possible for families in Nicaragua.

Happy Mother’s Day from AMOS Health & Hope.
