This week our team harvested 20+ pounds of organic lettuce (seeds courtesy of Camden County Certified Gardeners) for our senior community. Once we cut the lettuce, we packaged it up and delivered it to the senior line dance club at the Gibbsboro Recreation Center. Since we cut the lettuce instead of pulling it, we will get a second crop. Lettuce and greens are just one of the crops we grow for seniors and the American Legion Disabled Veterans. More crops to come this summer: Herbs, garlic, onions, tomatoes and peppers.

Bee-utiful Announcement 🐝🐝
Recently, our long time (10 years) beekeeper, Karl W. Wirtz has retired from beekeeping. We would like to thank him for all his years of dedication and hard work and wish him well in his future endeavors. We would also like to welcome Nicole Mazzitelli along with her assistant, Christy.
Nicole has already been hard at work rescuing swarms and setting up bees, which are already hard at work making honey. 🍯 Nicole's passion for beekeeping and organic gardening makes her a great fit into our space.

GIBBSBORO COMMUNITY GARDEN
EASTER/SPRING FLOWER RECYCLING PROGRAM: πŸ’πŸŒΏπŸ’πŸŒΏπŸ’πŸŒΏπŸ’πŸŒΏπŸ’

Everyone loves to pick out beautiful flowers for spring or Easter, whether receiving or purchasing for a gift, the instant gratification of spring is so uplifting. After the blooms have faded, and the bulbs and plants are going into dormancy, many of these unloved remnants end up in the trash, never making it into the ground. Although these early blooming flowers are bought for instant color to add to our front steps, sadley they never make it out of their flower pots.

Anyone who is done with them, and wishes to donate them to Gibbsboro Community Gardens, we would love to adopt them. Please spread the word and once we collect them, we will get them into a good location for years of additional beauty. We Lβ™‘VE the orphaned plants! Message us or they can be dropped off at the garden. Thank-You!
