Despite his trauma, he offers a plethora of kisses with an accoutrement of wags, all while his little body fights to right itself.
This was supposed to be the post where I tell you how TYSON turned the corner and how he beat the odds. But as I was about to start writing how he was doing so well, and would be discharged tomorrow, I received a call from his surgeon. TYSON pr*****ed again.
And so now this post is to tell you that our happy, gentle little fighter is about to undergo a colopexy surgery, where an incision in the abdomen allows our surgeon to pull the colon back into its proper position, then suture (tack) it to the abdominal wall so that it can remain in place. This is an invasive procedure and not the one we had hoped for, but his re**um is healthy, and the surgery has a very high success rate.
He’s in the best hands at , with an expert level care and surgical team, led by Dr. Daniel Spector, as well as a diligent ER care team who handled his intake.
These photos are remarkable. To have a dog dealing with this level of trauma (his fourth prolapse since his ordeal began) go from his home, to a large municipal shelter, then to an emergency hospital where every human he meets is a stranger, still greet each new person with an open heart is remarkable.
TYSON is the win we need right now. Please help us lift him up this evening with positive thoughts, healing energy, love from the universe and prayers. Dogs like him are why our program exists. We cannot save them all, but for those that we can, the losses sting just a bit less.
