The Foundation awarded a $1,500 grant to the 4th and 5th grade classrooms for materials, supplies, and resources to enhance STEM instruction and engage students in meaningful learning experiences. Thank you Mrs. Trish Ahlemeier and Mrs. Nina DeRouchey for submitting the application that allows the Gettysburg School District Foundation the opportunity to fulfill its mission to enhance our students’ educational experience.

A Donation was made in honor of John and Chris Wilson

In 2025, a donation was made to the Gettysburg School District Foundation in Honor of longtime residents of Gettysburg, John and Chris Wilson. John and Chris came to Gettysburg in 1973 and devoted more than 50 years to their family and community. Both served as EMTs with the Gettysburg Ambulance, while Chris also worked as a nurse’s aide and John served with the Gettysburg Police Department and Potter County Sheriff’s Office. Even in retirement, John remained ready to help local farmers, businesses and organizations. Chris was remembered for her caring nature, hospitality, cooking and devotion to family. Through their service, generosity and kindness, John and Chris represented the very best of Gettysburg and left a lasting impact on the community they proudly called home.

You too can make a lasting impact on our schools while celebrating the people who matter most to you. The Gettysburg School District Foundation accepts donations "in honor of" or "in memory of" loved ones. When you give a tribute gift, you fund innovative classroom grants, student experiences, and vital district programs.

This summer the Gettysburg School District Foundation utilized this year's Justin Cronin Memorial donation to provide summer band lessons at no charge to students. Twenty five dedicated students were able to take lessons on Fridays in June & July from GHS Alumni and Pierre Music Owner/Instructor Kerry Freidel. Kerry gave lessons on 11 different instruments to students throughout the day; and even introducing bass guitar to those who wanted to try something new!

A big thank you to the Justin Cronin Memorial donation, Mr. Freidel for your time and expertise, Amber Mikkelsen for scheduling, and to our incredible students for your hard work and dedication!
