William Henry Harrison Pierce, Tillie's younger brother was born March 3rd, 1841. He entered Pennsylvania College and only attended one year in entering in 1858 but left college in 1859. He joined the Gettysburg Blues Militia on April 22, 1861. At the time his was 20 years, 1 month and 19 days old. He was in Co. E that eventually became Co. K in 2nd Brigade, 2nd Division June 1st 1861. William did see some action during the Civil War. From the information that I can find he fought in the Western Theater with the 15th PA Cavalry. He had seen some action in Harper's Ferry, skirmish in Jonesboro, GA, Kings Court and Thorn hill. I did read somewhere that his company at some point was under the overall command of General Sherman but will have to do more research to confirm....so please don't quote me on that one until I make sure of it.
June 21, probably of 1865 and his company at the time was mustered out of service.
On Independence Day 1867, William married Helen Grace Ziegler (born February 22, 1844) and she was the daughter of Samuel & Sarah (Radford) Ziegler. There is the likely possibility that William and Helen met casually at church. .......
