Celebrating the Birthday of our Founding Father
On February 21st, the Gettysburg Chapter, NSDAR gathered to celebrate the birthday of our nation’s first president, George Washington, in a truly memorable way.
We were delighted to welcome not only our own members, but also members from neighboring DAR chapters, prospective members, friends, and HODARs who joined us for this special afternoon of fellowship and patriotism.
Guests enjoyed an engaging and informative lecture by local historian Jim Segrave-Daly, who shared insights into Washington’s life, leadership, and enduring legacy. His presentation brought history to life and reminded us why Washington’s character and perseverance continue to inspire generations.
The tables were beautifully decorated with cherry blossom centerpieces, a perfect nod to the familiar legend of young Washington and the cherry tree. And of course, no celebration would be complete without a little sweetness! Members and guests enjoyed cherry Jell-O and delicious cherry fluff for dessert, adding a festive (and tasty!) touch to the occasion.
It was a delightful afternoon honoring the Father of Our Country and celebrating the shared bonds of service, history, and community.
