Tonight I,( Lesley) had the opportunity to join a group and watch The Ripple Effect, then join in a group discussion of how our loved one’s death had a ripple effect.
There was laughter, tears and healing tonight. But the most important thing was bringing awareness to those who struggle with su***de ideation.
I was also reminded in the almost two years since Brian passed, I have not sat in a room of people who all knew the feelings and emotions I have been through first hand. I’m so thankful my journey so far has brought me here and that I found this event.
Please understand the importance of your mental health.
But also understand su***de isn’t selfish. It isn’t weak, it isn’t an easy way out. It is an illness that needs to be treated. Let’s normalize seeking help for mental illness just like body illness.
