Thank you Admiral James Foggo for your perspective into our military's strengths and challenges. Our Navy League members, local business leaders, military members and Memphis NROTC unit found the presentation very insightful - reinforcing that the challenges facing our military are greater than ever. It also reminded us that the exceptional men and women serving our nation continue to rise to meet those challenges—and that they need and deserve our steadfast support.

Welcome to the fleet, USCGC JEFFREY PALAZZO.

This weekend, the U.S. Coast Guard commissioned USCGC JEFFREY PALAZZO (WPC 1163) at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in New York City, a Sentinel class Fast Response Cutter named in honor of a true American hero.

Jeffrey Palazzo served as a Coast Guard Reservist and an FDNY firefighter. On September 11, 2001, he gave his life saving fellow New Yorkers.
Built by Bollinger Shipyards, this cutter carries more than his name. It carries a piece of his legacy. Steel recovered from Ground Zero was incorporated into a memorial plaque aboard the ship, connecting the vessel's service to the sacrifice that inspired it.

A special thank you to Navy League of the United States, New York Council, proud co-sponsor of this commissioning, and to the volunteers and members whose dedication made this milestone possible.

Congratulations to the officers and crew of USCGC JEFFREY PALAZZO. We look forward to supporting you as you begin this next chapter of service.
