CONGRATULATIONS to our 2026 BGCGW Youth of the Year, Donyae H. from Clubhouse 14! She and nine other greater Washington Club kids competed for the coveted role. Thirteen younger Club kids (ages 10 -13) competed for Junior Youth of the Year as well. Donyae will now move on to compete for the DC/VA State Youth of the Year in March. A big THANK YOU to our external partners and friends who helped judge the competition and to the families and BGCGW staff that supported all of our Club kids along this rewarding journey. A huge thank you to our friends at Negril Eatery! Negril Eatery generously donated delicious food and supported the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington - Montgomery County Region's mentoring program, "The Great Big Kid".

Their kindness helped make our finale event extra special and showed our youth the power of community coming together. We’re so grateful for Negril's partnership and commitment to empowering the next generation! 💙🍴

Celebrate the 26th annual Lights On Afterschool Oct. 23, 2025 at the Boys & Girls Clubs - Germantown Branch (5:30pm - 7pm)

Launched in October 2000, Lights On Afterschool is the only nationwide event celebrating afterschool programs and their important role in the lives of children, families and communities. The Afterschool Alliance organizes Lights On Afterschool to draw attention to the many ways afterschool programs support students by offering them opportunities to learn new things.
