Last weekend members of Troop 64 headed east to hike at Fall Creek Falls and visit the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga. They then went to Huntsville to tour the US Space & Rocket Center.

Trip to Pinnacle Peak in Arkansas had the Scouts bouldering and hiking to the summit during the day. Saturday evening included a flag retirement ceremony which included Troop 141 from Hernando.

For over 30 years Troop 64 has been responsible for maintaining and distributing the flags used at Veterans Day and Memorial Day at the West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. It is a service that we do not take lightly and we are proud to be able to help that facility with these events.

Today 25,000 flags were place in about an hour and a half by volunteers with multiple organizations. Thank you to everyone that came to assist.

Congratulations to Troop 64 alumnus Randy Smith (Eagle Class of 1977) who was awarded the Silver Beaver, the highest form of recognition that a local council can bestow on a volunteer, by the Northeast Georgia Council on August 9th.

We got a phone call from Crew 705-Q-1 from the top of Black Mountain (elevation 10,889 feet). All are well and having a great time on the trails.
