Head's up! Expect closures starting with Englewood MetroPark (East) starting June 1. Work will be done during the week so you can adventure all weekend! 😎

Pavement party at Five Rivers MetroParks starting June 1!

What to expect: Multiple projects in eight different MetroParks are scheduled in June and July (provisional rain dates planned). Certain areas will be closed on weekdays, but open on weekends to help minimize disruption. Parks will remain open and accessible on weekends.

“Five Rivers MetroParks is committed to maintaining safe, accessible roads, lots and trails,” said Five Rivers MetroParks Construction Manager Johnathan Eubanks. “This work is supported by the levy passed by the public in 2024 and reflects MetroParks’ continuing commitment to deliver on important repairs that are of great importance to the public.”

Wow, folks. 😮 All 425 spots for the Twin Valley Trail Challenge on June 6 have been filled. We know we did registration a little different this year, and here's why:

✅This event has grown significantly over the last 5+ years and we want to ensure folks have a safe, quality experience hiking.
✅As a conservation agency, MetroParks' priority is protecting the region's natural heritage. We hope to strike a balance between recreation and conservation that supports a healthy trail and ecosystem.

Of course, on the day of the TVT Challenge, trails will be open; however, we hope that you will hike your own hike and let registrants use the resources provided to them, including the Twin Valley Welcome Center parking, rest stations and shuttle. You guys, last week's Bike to Work Day was awesome. 💯 Here's some details on all the fun, but also all the miles you commuted and carbon saved:

Heads up, paddlers and anglers! Argonne Lake is closed (but for an exciting reason). Construction will soon begin on a paved trail loop that surrounds the lake to make it more accessible to all. For more info and all of MetroParks' alerts, check out the link in the comments.
