Town History talks are always popular at the library, and we're happy to be hosting another fascinating talk with Town Historian, Tom Shannon. Mark your calendars and kindly RSVP on the library website.

German Camp: Revolution Along the Hudson will cover a multitude of story threads: the significance of the German Camp District created in 1775, clues about the political inclinations of various Palatine descendants, life in German Camp while Clermont burned next door, the perplexing presence of an Anglican Rector in German Camp during the war, a Loyalist raid, a public auction that drew some famous names, and more!

Thursday, July 2, at 7 PM.
In-person and on Zoom.
RSVP to [email protected]

P.S. - the image in the flyer is the 1765 Philip Rockefeller home and store. sits on the same site now. Rockefeller played a large role in local Revolutionary efforts.

Librarians emerge as first responders in the fight for democracy and our First Amendment Rights. As they well know, controlling the flow of ideas means control over communities.
In Texas, the Krause List targets 850 books focused on race and LGBTQIA+ stories – triggering sweeping book bans across the U.S. at an unprecedented rate. As tensions escalate, librarians connect the dots from heated school and library board meetings nationwide to lay bare the underpinnings of extremism fueling the censorship efforts. Despite facing harassment, threats, and laws aimed at criminalizing their work – the librarians’ rallying cry for freedom to read is a chilling cautionary tale.
