Southern Alabama AHEC Associate Director, Md Ikbal Parveg, attended the 49th Annual National Rural Health Conference to advocate for our rural communities. The conference, hosted by the National Rural Health Association (NRHA), took place from May 19 to 22, 2026, in San Diego. The conference brought together rural health leaders, healthcare professionals, advocates, and policymakers from across the nation to discuss innovative solutions and strategies to improve healthcare in rural communities. As one of the largest national gatherings dedicated to rural health, the conference featured more than 80 educational sessions focused on topics including healthcare access, workforce development, innovation, AI in rural healthcare, and reducing health disparities in underserved populations. Attendees had opportunities to collaborate, explore emerging trends, and strengthen partnerships aimed at improving rural healthcare systems.
