Please share and consider donating if you are able. We are very thankful to serve in this community that is so generous in times of unimaginable grief like these.

One of our members and fellow deputies, Nate, a devoted husband, father, and Deputy with the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, is facing the unimaginable after losing his wife, Sarah, the mother of their four young daughters, following a sudden pregnancy-related medical emergency.

On Saturday, April 18, Nate found Sarah unconscious and intermittently responsive at home. He called 911, and she was rushed to the hospital, where doctors believe she suffered severe complications related to preeclampsia, a dangerous condition involving high blood pressure that can develop quickly and without warning.

An emergency C-section was performed, and by the grace of God, their daughter Wynnie was delivered safely and is healthy.

Despite the medical team’s efforts, Sarah’s condition worsened, suspected to be the result of catastrophic internal bleeding and a loss of oxygen to her brain. She passed away the following day, just weeks before their 11th wedding anniversary in May.

Nate is now raising four young girls, including a newborn, without their momma, while also grieving the unexpected loss of his wife, best friend, and life partner.

The family has set up a GoFundMe to help support Nate and the girls—not only with medical and funeral expenses, but also with the ongoing costs of raising four young daughters, including childcare and daily needs.

If you’re able to help, whether through a donation or by sharing, it would mean the world to us. More than anything, we ask for your prayers for our family during this incredibly difficult time.

We are deeply saddened to share that James R. Wilson, former Williamson County Sheriff and retired DPS Colonel, has passed away.

Sheriff James Wilson began his career in law enforcement in 1963 when he was employed as a Patrolman by the Texas Department of Public Safety and assigned to the greater Houston area. While there, he served as a Driver's License Patrolman and a Texas Highway Patrolman before being promoted to the DPS Criminal Intelligence Service in 1972. He served as an Agent Investigator Sergeant and Captain.

In 1985, Wilson was promoted to Assistant Commander of the DPS Criminal Intelligence Service and moved to DPS Headquarters in Austin in 1986. There, he was promoted to Commander of the DPS Narcotics Service. In 1987, he was promoted to the position of Assistant Chief of the DPS Criminal Law Enforcement Division. In 1988, he was promoted to the position of Lieutenant Colonel, the Assistant Director of the Department of Public Safety. In 1991, he was promoted to Colonel and became the Director of the Texas Department of Public Safety. He stayed in that capacity and retired from the DPS in 1996 after 33 ½ years of service to the people of Texas.

In 2004, Wilson came out of retirement when he ran for Sheriff of Williamson County. He was elected to the position and began his service on January 1st, 2005. His tenure as Sheriff lasted until December 31st, 2016. During those 12 years, he served our office with honor, courage, and integrity.

He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Sheriff Wilson's family, friends, and colleagues during this time.

Our deputies have been authorized to don their mourning badge as a mark of respect and remembrance.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 7th from 12PM to 2PM, followed by his funeral service at 2PM, both at the DPS Tactical Training Facility, 810 Co Rd 240, Florence, TX 76527.

Authorities hope the yearlong investigation into Jensen Anders’s death brings justice and highlights the growing fentanyl crisis.
