Rotary started with one man — Paul Harris, so professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships. at 1 pm.

Founded in 1938, our club and is actively involved in making our community a better place. College Scholarships: we award a $1,500 scholarship to a college-bound graduate from Georgetown High and from Carvers Bay High. CART Fund – research for Alzheimer’s
Friendship Place: volunteer last Friday of the month to serve meals

Today our Georgetown Rotary Club had the privilege of hearing from Dr. Bethany Giles, Superintendent of Georgetown County School District.

She shared a lot of encouraging information about the progress being made in our schools, along with some very real challenges ahead, including enrollment, funding, staffing, and salaries.

One thing that especially stood out to us was her “why.” For her, it is about giving back what was given to her and creating pathways for young people to succeed, whether that pathway is academics, athletics, band, the arts, or another opportunity.

Her word for the year also happens to fit Rotary pretty well: 𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗔𝗖𝗧.

It was a good reminder that strong schools are not simply the responsibility of teachers and administrators. They are a community responsibility. The question for all of us is, what kind of impact can we make?

Thank you, Dr. Giles, for sharing with us today and for your commitment to the students, educators, and families of Georgetown County.

The Rotary Club of Georgetown had the pleasure of welcoming Georgetown County Administrator Angela Christian, who shared valuable information about county revenue distribution and future planning.

We also enjoyed hearing updates about several exciting projects underway throughout Georgetown County. We appreciate Angela taking the time to keep us informed about the work being done in our community and what lies ahead!

Chief Brown is a lifelong Georgetown resident who has dedicated more than 44 years to serving and protecting our community. He began his career with the Georgetown Police Department in 1982, rising through the ranks from patrol officer to investigator, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, Deputy Chief, and now Chief of Police.

A graduate of Winyah High School, Horry Georgetown Technical College, the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, the National Intelligence Academy, and the FBI Command College, Chief Brown has also served in federal law enforcement with the FBI, U.S. Marshals Service, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

He and his wife, Jamie, a longtime educator in Georgetown County Schools, are proud to call Georgetown home and enjoy spending time with their seven grown children.

Join us today at 1:00 PM as the Georgetown Rotary Club welcomes Georgetown Mayor Jay Doyle as our guest speaker at Friendship Place.

Mayor Doyle made local history as the first third party candidate elected Mayor of Georgetown since 1894. A Georgetown resident for sixteen years, he brings a wealth of experience in entrepreneurship, construction, telecommunications, energy conservation, and community leadership.

Mayor Doyle will share about his journey into public service and his experiences serving the citizens of Georgetown.

Guests are always welcome to attend Rotary meetings and learn more about the people and organizations helping make Georgetown a better place to live, work, and serve. Cost for lunch $18.00

Thank you to Ryan Marsh from FCA for speaking to Georgetown Rotary today!

Ryan shared how FCA is reaching young people across Georgetown County through fishing and outdoor programs. These events create fun, friendly competition while teaching students basic and advanced fishing skills, outdoor safety, sportsmanship, leadership, and teamwork. Most importantly, they provide opportunities to build relationships and encourage faith in the next generation.

We appreciate Ryan's passion for investing in our youth and making a positive impact in our community. 🎣🎣🎣

Brandy is the Executive Director of Students in the Word and serves as Youth Director at Belin Memorial United Methodist Church. A passionate advocate for young people, she is dedicated to helping students grow in confidence, purpose, and faith through God's Word.

𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. Today our Rotary International club members spent time cleaning our adopted roadway on Anthuan Maybank Drive, helping keep our community beautiful one bag, one step, and one act of service at a time. Proud to serve Georgetown together.
