UPDATE: Foster Found!
Sometimes, asking for help is the hardest thing to do.
A family has been living in their car through this brutal heatwave. They have been doing everything they can to care for their animals, trying to keep them safe despite circumstances no family should have to face.
But today, the heat became too much.
They saw their mama cat with her kittens and their other two cats panting, struggling, and becoming dangerously overheated. They rushed them to BCHS.
Inside the shelter, the woman sat on the floor, crying and whispering over and over: “I don't want them to die.”
She was holding the limp body of one of the overheated kittens.
That sentence and her heartbreak is going to stay with us. So we did what we do.
We shuffled some of our resident kittens around, opened a couple of small kennels, and immediately went to work cooling everyone down and getting them stabilized. A couple of the kittens are still struggling a little, but we are incredibly relieved to say that mama, her babies, and the other cats are doing much better.
Now we need your help.
Once this little family is fully stable, we desperately need a foster home for mama and her four tiny kittens. A shelter is no place for a nursing mother and babies. They need a quiet, comfortable place to grow, and feel safe. Mama has already been through enough.
If you can foster this family, please reach out to BCHS.
