Dennis and Yossalyn are childhood sweethearts who recently welcomed their third son into the world. Dennis, a U.S. Army veteran, and Yossalyn, a dedicated stay-at-home mom, are excited to build a strong foundation for their growing family, and we are honored to partner with them on that journey.

Over the coming months, they'll work alongside Habitat staff, volunteers, and supporters as they complete the requirements of our homeownership program and prepare for the day they receive the keys to their future home.

Everyone deserves the opportunity to live safely and comfortably in the home they know and love. 🏡💙

Through Sussex County Habitat for Humanity's Healthy Homes program, we help provide critical repairs and accessibility improvements that allow homeowners to remain in their homes when they might otherwise struggle to do so.

Many of the neighbors we serve are older adults, individuals recovering from illness or injury, or families navigating unexpected life challenges. Sometimes a wheelchair ramp, repaired flooring, safer entryway, or other essential repair can make all the difference: helping someone maintain their independence, recover with dignity, and continue living in the community they call home.

No one should have to leave their home simply because they can't afford a critical repair. Through Healthy Homes, we're helping ensure that more Sussex County residents can remain safe, healthy, and secure for years to come.

One of the things we love most about welcoming volunteers to our sites is getting the chance to share everything Habitat does beyond building homes. 💙🏡

Many people are surprised to learn that our homeownership program isn't a giveaway - our partner families work hard alongside us, completing homeownership education, sweat equity hours, and purchasing their homes with an affordable mortgage.

They're also often surprised to learn that we provide no-cost critical home repairs for some of our most vulnerable neighbors, helping them remain safely in the homes they already own. And through our financial coaching program, anyone in Sussex County can receive free one-on-one guidance to help improve their financial health and work toward their goals.

Every volunteer day is an opportunity not only to build, but also to learn more about the many ways Sussex County Habitat for Humanity is working to create stronger communities throughout Sussex County.

From completing sweat equity hours and homeownership education classes to working toward their goals month after month, our partner families invest so much in making their dream of homeownership a reality.

Seeing the joy on Evan and Haley's faces at their home blessing was a reminder of what this journey is all about. And their story became even more memorable when Evan got down on one knee and proposed at their home dedication ceremony! 💍✨

to Home Builders Blitz 2014! 🏡🔨

Home Builders Blitz is a unique partnership between Habitat for Humanity and members of the building industry, bringing builders, suppliers, contractors, and volunteers together to construct homes in an incredibly short period of time - often just one week.

This news clipping and photo are a great reminder of what can happen when a community comes together around a shared goal. We're grateful for the many industry partners who have supported our mission over the years and helped create homeownership opportunities for local families.
