It’s hard to believe it’s already been nine months since our triple dedication ceremony in Milford! 🏡💙

Since then, the Milford Homeownership Project has continued moving forward, and we’re getting closer to the finish line for the final two homes in this nine-home community revitalization project.

We’re so excited to see these last two homes find their future homeowners this fall and winter and to celebrate the families who will soon have the opportunity to call Milford home. 🔑

From the first home to the final set of keys, this project has been made possible by the dedication of our partner families, volunteers, donors, sponsors, and community partners.

Habitat homeowners put in sweat equity hours as part of their journey toward affordable homeownership, working alongside volunteers and Habitat staff to help bring their homes to life.

Every hour on the job site represents time, effort, and commitment to creating a stronger future for themselves and their families.

And someday soon, all that hard work will lead to one very special moment: turning the key and walking through the front door of a home they helped build. 🔑

Looking for a way for your organization to support Sussex County Habitat for Humanity? There are plenty of ways to jump in! 💙

From helping make an event possible to supporting the volunteers who make our work happen, organizational partners can get involved in ways that fit their goals and budget.

Some ideas include:
🍽️ Sponsoring catering for a Habitat event
🎁 Providing gift cards or other goodies for our volunteers
🧺 Donating a basket for our upcoming Lunch with a Purpose in October
🔨 Sponsoring volunteers for a special build day like Women Build or PRIDE Build
🧹 Supporting a Rock the Block neighborhood revitalization event

At Sussex County Habitat for Humanity, families work toward homeownership through financial coaching, homeownership education, sweat equity, and an affordable mortgage. It takes commitment, but the result is a foundation they can build on for years to come.

And when a family has an affordable place to call home, they have more room to dream about what comes next. 🔑

A family ready to work toward homeownership. A community willing to show up. And volunteers who are ready to roll up their sleeves and get to work. 🛠️

Every volunteer brings something different to Habitat, whether it’s construction experience, a willingness to learn, a few hours on a Saturday, or simply the desire to help.

You can volunteer with your coworkers, gather your friends, bring the family, or come on your own and meet some new people along the way.

There’s no one way to be a Habitat volunteer. There’s just showing up and being part of something that matters.

When families have the opportunity to purchase an affordable home, they’re not only gaining a place to live. They’re building equity, creating financial stability, and investing in an asset that can contribute to their family’s future.

That foundation can open doors for the next generation, too, creating opportunities to save, pursue education, start a business, or eventually build wealth of their own.

🐾 It’s National Dog Day, so naturally, we had to introduce you to some of the four-legged members of the Sussex County Habitat for Humanity team! 🐶💙

They may not be able to swing a hammer or help with paperwork, but they’re experts at moral support, welcoming their humans home, and making the occasional work-from-home Zoom call appearance. 😉
