Emotional post 💕

On Friday, I had the honor of bringing the La Vaquerita Creamery paleta cart to celebrate Water Day and the last day of school at Mary Bailey Head Start.

As I stood there serving paletas to the children, I couldn’t help but get emotional because years ago, I was one of the parents in this very program.

Back then, life looked very different. We were living paycheck to paycheck, and daycare costs were simply not affordable for our family. We were blessed that my husband was able to work full-time while I stayed home with our children. We enrolled in Head Start because one of my daughters was experiencing a speech delay and receiving therapy, and her sibling had begun mimicking some of those language challenges. The program gave our family support, resources, and encouragement during a time when we truly needed it.

While my children attended Head Start, I worked every job I could find. I cleaned houses, washed windows, cleaned garages, did move-outs, and anything else that came my way. No job was too small, too dirty, or too difficult. I had a dream, and I was determined to build something of my own one day.

That dream eventually became La Vaquerita Creamery. 🍦🤠

So being able to come back years later, not as a parent needing help, but as a local business owner giving back to the same program that once helped my family, was incredibly special.

This was one of those moments that reminded me why I started this journey in the first place. Success isn’t just about opening a business—it’s about being able to return and lift up the communities that helped lift you.

To the teachers, staff, and families of Head Start: thank you for all you do. Your impact reaches far beyond the classroom.

And to anyone who is in a position to volunteer, donate, sponsor an event, or simply lend a helping hand to programs like Head Start, I encourage you to do it. These families appreciate it more than you know, and your kindness can make a lasting difference.

Thank you, Mary Bailey Head Start, for allowing me to be part of such a special day. My heart is full. 💖

With love,
Yozue & La Vaquerita Creamery 🍦💕🤠
