We are getting real excited about our fundraiser this Saturday 3/28 at Camp Briteside! This is a come and go event from 12:00-8:00. No tickets are required. You do not need to be present to win the raffle or silent auction, so if you come early in the day you do not need to be there when we do the drawings.
We've got some great raffle and silent auction items. Everything from fishing trips and hunts, to private dinners & events, to guns and suppressors! Thanks to everyone who has helped out with this! Mesquite Creek Outfitters, Tejas Meat Supply, Gold Burger Diner, Shiner Beer, The Golden Rule, Blue Smoke Mobile Cigar Lounge, 1872 Golf Club

“There's only one thing more precious than our time and that's who we spend it on." — Leo Christopher

Veteran Outdoors has now been around for just over 15 years and we have reached an astonishing 7009 veterans served since day one!!

One of our favorite adventures of the year is the annual game warden hunt right here in our own backyard. This is solely an adventure to get our guest and one of their loved ones outdoors spending quality time together building memories! The lessons that can be taught and learned in the field, away from technology, with no distractions are invaluable! Together providing food for their families and connecting on a personal level can rekindle time apart.

We thank God that we have such wonderful game wardens and friends that allow us to provide this experience for so many people each year. I truly believe that this adventure defines and embodies the true spirit of Veteran Outdoors!

Our Pacific Northwest Outreach team just wrapped up Operation Salmon in the state of Washington. 14 veterans reunited for 3 days of fishing after a visit to their former battalion area. Veterans fished for hatchery Coho Salmon on day 1 in the Columbia River Estuary where the Mighty Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean. Limits of Dungeness Crab made for a nice bonus at the end of a long day of fishing. On day two and three the veterans fished further up river out of Washougal Washington. This location is known as the gateway to the Columbia river gorge, and with the views of the landscape can easily be considered “God’s Country.” This band of brothers were joined by two young soldiers currently serving in the old unit, both soldiers have been recognized as soldier of the month. There was a lot of laughter, some emotional moments and a lot of “1st salmon moments!”

Thank you to the boat captains that donated their time, equipment, and gave up many hours of sleep to drag their boats across the state to make this event successful!

Our Northwest Outreach Team has been busy in Astoria, Or. the last two days. Today wrapped up a two day salmon fishing trip that was also a reunion for 15 veterans. These 15 Marines/ Sailors represent a combined total of 305 years of active duty service as United States Marines! The Marines fished for coho Salmon on Saturday and every boat connected with a few keepers. many chinook and wild coho were caught and safely released! High winds (unsafe) were forecasted in Astoria for today so we moved the Marines further up the Columbia River to Ridgefield, Wa. Wind, crowds and weak tide swings made fishing difficult today but 3 veterans were able to connect with chinook! Thank you to the 3 boat captains that donated their time and gear!

Yesterday 10 female veterans competed in the annual Lipstick Salmon Slayers Women’s Fishing Derby. The entry fees were sponsored by Veteran Outdoors. The derby is held in Astoria, Or. where the mighty Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean. Although none of our ladies had a fish that placed in the derby eight out of ten of our ladies caught some amazing salmon the biggest tipped the scales at just over 20 pounds. These ladies fished hard, and worked together as a team! All three teams came together at the awards dinner and there was no doubt that everyone had a great day on the water! A big thank you to Brian Loveland and Darwin Templet for running a boat for the even!! Veteran brake down by
