As we wrap up Mental Health Awareness Month, we share how accessible and compassionate care can help patients find stability, clarity, and hope. 💚

For more than a decade, Daniela searched for stability, not just in her mental health, but in her life. Living with chronic pain from spondylolisthesis and navigating depression and anxiety, Daniela struggled to maintain steady work and afford care. While searching for services that didn’t require insurance, she found Lone Star Circle of Care and something she hadn’t experienced before: accessible, compassionate care where she was truly seen.

Initially diagnosed with major depressive disorder, her care team listened deeply and reassessed her symptoms. A later diagnosis of bipolar disorder brought long‑needed clarity. With the help of proper treatment including medication and therapy, Daniela rebuilt her confidence.

“I was really in my head and struggling to get through life,” Daniela shares. “Therapy helped me change that.”

Daniela returned to work and has been stable for nearly eight years. Even after gaining insurance, she continues her care at LSCC, and now leads a bipolar disorder peer support group where others—many uninsured—feel understood and supported.

“I don’t think I would be where I am today without Lone Star Circle of Care,” she says. “They helped give me my life back.”

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, we share Ellie’s story, a reminder that it’s never too late to return to care and find hope. 💚

At 33, Ellie’s mental health journey has been anything but simple. Diagnosed with bipolar disorder at 15 after self‑harming, Ellie didn’t yet understand, or accept, what that diagnosis meant. Without the right support, she left treatment and spent years avoiding care, facing abuse, stigma, and financial barriers along the way.

In 2024, Ellie decided to try again.

She came to Lone Star Circle of Care for a women’s health visit and learned she could access behavioral health care regardless of insurance. What began as treatment for what she believed was depression became something deeper: a clearer understanding of her mental health and acceptance of her bipolar diagnosis.

“I used to believe in the stigma,” Ellie shares. “I was scared to talk about my past, my family, the abuse—everything. But you can’t do this alone. You need community. Getting help changed everything.”

Her care team met Ellie where she was, supporting her through setbacks, medication challenges, and moments of uncertainty. Through therapy, she built daily routines, healthier coping skills, and the stability she had long been seeking. Today, she’s working again, her relationships are stronger, and her life feels stable in ways that once seemed impossible.
Reflecting on her journey, Ellie shares this message for donors:

“You’re helping someone keep going. You’re helping someone get their life back.”

Your donation helps people like Ellie access care, find community, and keep moving forward.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, your donation helps families access the care they need. 💚

Reese was diagnosed with ADHD and Oppositional Defiant Disorder at just 8 years old. His mom Jennifer worried about what those labels might mean for his future. Reese was struggling with emotional outbursts, aggression, and focus at home and in the classroom. Lone Star Circle of Care is where Reese and his mom found support, understanding, and hope. With the help of play-based therapy and guidance from Reese's care team, he and his family stayed consistent and watched Reese begin to thrive academically and emotionally, but the support didn't stop there.

Reese's brothers, Owen and Cole, also benefitted from therapy, helping them develop safer coping skills and providing a trusted space to unpack the pressures of adolescence. With all boys thriving, Jennifer also sought care for herself, learning that caring for her own self is essential to caring for her family.

“It takes a village to survive,” Jennifer says. “And our team at Lone Star has been phenomenal.”

May is and Lone Star Circle of Care patients like Destiny show why access to mental health care matters. From loss and recovery, to becoming an inspiring pastor, her LSCC care team was there every step of the way. Give to help someone move forward: https://bit.ly/4w93ZgU

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and Destiny's story highlights why access to the right mental health care matters. 💚

Destiny came to Lone Star Circle of Care during one of the heaviest seasons of her life. Grieving the loss of her father, carrying the weight of past traumas, and later recovering from a life‑changing car accident that left her relearning how to walk and struggling with overwhelming anxiety.

“It was so much. It was like mental warfare,” she recalls. “I don’t think I’ve ever experienced trauma like that before. But I saw a difference from the very first visit back at Lone Star. My provider took the time to tell me it’s going to be okay. I felt hope from the very first session.”

With compassionate, judgment‑free care, Destiny’s team met her exactly where she was. Together, they focused on small, meaningful goals. Each step forward helping her rebuild not only physical strength, but confidence and peace of mind. Over time, hope replaced fear, and healing unfolded at her own pace.

Today, Destiny stands in a place she once thought was impossible. She is now a pastor, back in her community, living with purpose and inspiring others around her to seek help.

Your support helps ensure no one is turned away because of insurance or income. Give today and help someone move forward: https://bit.ly/4w93ZgU
