A man who admitted to assaulting a federal ICE officer during a 2025 protest in Portland was sentenced to 30 months in prison after investigators identified him using facial recognition technology.

Congratulations to Officer Connor Cleary, Officer Cameron Buchignani, and Officer Katelyn Cook for receiving the Chief's Commendation for their outstanding work and professionalism during a call for service on May 28, 2026.

Throughout the incident, these officers demonstrated exceptional judgment and attention to detail while managing a complex and evolving scene. Their professionalism ensured the scene was properly secured and organized, allowing our Criminal Investigations Division to efficiently process and investigate the incident.

The dedication displayed by Officers Cleary, Buchignani, and Cook reflects the high standards of service that our community expects and deserves. Their commitment to teamwork and to the citizens of Georgetown is evident in everything they do.

We are grateful for their hard work and proud to have them serving our community. Please join us in congratulating these officers on this well-deserved recognition!

On May 29, 2026 at approximately 5:40 pm, deputies with the Scott County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Ironworks Road and Midway Road in reference to a motor vehicle collision involving a passenger van and motorcycle.

Deputies arrived on scene and determined that the Georgetown/Scott County Collision Investigation Unit needed to respond due to the severity of the collision.

At this time, one operator has been transported to UK Hospital due to suffering serious physical injury. This collision is still under investigation.

Thank you to Georgetown/Scott County Fire, EMS/ EMA and all others for their assistance controlling the scene.

🚨 A traffic stop led to the seizure of illegal narcotics and charges against two individuals. 🚨

First and second shift officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle for multiple traffic violations. Upon contact with the driver and passenger, K9 Peti was deployed, resulting in a positive alert for narcotics.

A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed illegal narcotics inside the passenger compartment as well as in the bed of the pickup truck. Both occupants were arrested and charged.

The Scott County Grand Jury has since indicted both individuals on multiple charges, including:

• Drug Paraphernalia – Buy/Possess
• Trafficking in Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) – 1st Offense
• Possession of Controlled Substance – 1st Degree
• Persistent Felony Offender – 1st Degree
• No/Expired Registration Plates
• License to be in Possession Violation
