The club’s annual time to decorate The historic Hobcaw House at Hobcaw Barony for Christmas. Fresh greens, dried fruits and lots of personal items from garden club members created stunning results!
Hobcaw provided much appreciated refreshments.

Our speaker for the November meeting was Cindy Clark. She is a volunteer at Brookgreen Gardens, a master gardener, an author of several books and a member of the international Waterlily and water garden society. She shared her knowledge and photographs of the Victoria Longwood Hybrid lily that blooms at Brookgreen in the Pegasus water feature. It was fascinating to learn about this plant and to see the magnificent blooms which only open at night. Her books Jessica’s Tree and The Invisible Lily are for sale in Keepsakes Gift shop at Brookgreen. Great Garden Club presentation!

Fall & Winter are the best time to plant trees in SC! Which trees are your favorites?
I love the flowers of the Horse Chestnut and the mottled camouflage patterned bark of the Sycamore.

Cleaning out the photo library to share these snapshots from some recent farmer education programming! We host a lot of workshops, y'all. 🤩 There's nothing we enjoy more than getting out in the field with our farmer members to dive deep into important, practical topics across the sustainable ag discipline, including on-farm food safety, conservation techniques, regulatory preparedness, and organic production.

Look no further for hands-on, free and low-cost workshops to help your farm thrive: https://carolinafarmstewards.org/events/

Our October meeting was held at the home of club member Mary Jane Wheeling. She demonstrated leaf casting. In addition to leaves, she had perfected stepping stones, bowls, mushrooms and starfish! Her husband and assistant, Ron, is just as talented!

The planters at the Waccamaw Library in Litchfield are loving all the recent rain. Thank you, Leslie Moore, for making great plant selections! This is one of several areas the Georgetown Garden Club maintains for the beautician of the community!

50 years ago today… The Georgetown Garden Club (formerly known as Winyah Garden Club) met on this day in 1975. Thirteen members were in attendance to hear guest speaker Mr. Barron, Georgetown City Engineer, present to the club information on the city’s plans for the beautification of the waterfront. GGC still contributes to that beautification today by maintaining the garden at the Clock Tower on Front Street.
