Ask a Master Naturalist: Insect Editoni 🌿🐝

🗓️ Saturday, June 6 | 9am to 12pm

We’re going all in on insects — butterflies, bees, dragonflies, and more.

Come meet the Good Water Master Naturalists at Berry Springs and get a closer look at the small stuff that keeps everything running.

Easy morning, cool finds, and a good excuse to be outside.

Bird lovers, this one’s for you 🐦

Join us out at Berry Springs Park and Preserve this Saturday from 9 AM to noon for Ask a Master Naturalist — and we’re going all in on birds this time.

We’ll have real bird nests, feathers, and even skulls on hand to check out up close, plus TPWD Bird Bingo cards for a little extra fun while you explore the park.

After a stretch of rain, the sun’s finally making a return — shaping up to be a pretty perfect morning to get outside, learn something new, and spend a little time with nature.

Come by, ask questions, and see what you can discover 👀

With the festivities of the Two Step Inn going on this weekend, we’re expecting some friendly faces — both new and old — at the park!

A quick note: Lil Bob and Pedro love the attention, but they have sensitive diets—please limit feeding to just a small handful of grass and no outside food — even if they ask nicely. 😉

We’re glad to have you as guests — please enjoy the park respectfully, be mindful of wildlife, and help keep Berry Springs safe and clean for everyone. 🌿

This month’s theme is birds, with a special spotlight on bluebirds—plus plenty of general birding knowledge, tips, and fun facts from our Master Naturalists.

🌱 Bonus: We’ll also be giving away leftover native plants from last month’s rainout—while supplies last!

What a great day at Berry Springs! 🌿🦟

We loved seeing so many of you come out to build mosquito dunk buckets, support the preserve, and spend some time together in the park. Thanks to your generosity, we raised funds that will go right back into caring for this special place.

We’re so grateful for this community and the way you continue to show up for Berry Springs— keep your eyes out for more events coming soon — we can’t wait to see you at the next one! 💚

Grove Pavilion
$10 requested donation

Hosted by Friends of Berry Springs and the Good Water Master Naturalists, the Mosquito Bucket Challenge is a hands-on workshop where you’ll decorate and build your own mosquito dunk bucket — a safe, effective alternative to fogging that helps protect pollinators and other wildlife.

Supplies including buckets, labels, dunks, paints, and brushes will be provided, and you’ll leave with instructions on how to use it at home.

This project is part of Homegrown National Park, the conservation movement cofounded by Doug Tallamy, author of Nature’s Best Hope.

Prefer to make one at home? A limited number of official labels will be available for a $1 suggested donation.

All youth under 15 must be accompanied by an adult. 🐝🌎

“Why are the donkeys wearing socks?!” Well, we all get cold feet sometimes! 😉

They’re actually fly socks! In the warm months, biting flies love to gather around a donkey’s lower legs, which can cause irritation and sores. The socks act as a lightweight barrier that helps keep flies off while still letting air flow.

Just a simple way we help keep our donkeys comfortable and happy out in the pasture. 💛
