By the end of the first week back, the new pencils may already be missing, someone has probably forgotten something important, and at least one morning may not have gone according to plan.

That's okay.

Children don't need every school day to go perfectly. They need people they can come back to when things are hard - people who listen, reconnect, and remind them that one difficult moment doesn't define the whole day.

The same goes for parents and caregivers. You won't get every moment right, either.

A hard morning can have a better afternoon.
A rough day can end with connection.
And a new day gives everyone another chance.

Here's to a school year with room for learning, repairing, growing - and plenty of imperfect days along the way.

“You’re at the right place - and you feel it.”

That’s what STARRY CEO Richard Singleton hopes someone experiences when they walk into a Family Resource Center.

Warmth. Acceptance. Clarity. Dignity. Hope.

For Richard, a successful FRC is more than a place where people can access services. It’s a place where there’s no wrong door - where families and community members are heard, where navigating support feels a little less complicated, and where people work alongside you to find a path forward.

It’s also a place designed with dignity in mind: welcoming, modern and inviting, with staff who are energized by finding solutions alongside families.

At the heart of that vision is something simple:

You belong here.

You’re worthy of high-quality, professional care. You don’t have to navigate everything alone. And when you walk through the door, we want you to know you’ve come to the right place.

A new group of interns is ready to launch at STARRY!

Internships are about more than completing hours or checking a box. They’re a chance to learn, build confidence, develop professional skills, and discover what it means to put those skills into practice in service to others.

We’re excited to welcome our newest cohort and to be part of this chapter in their professional journeys.

Wellbeing is one of our core values at STARRY - and we believe it matters for the people doing this work, too.

The work of supporting children, families, and communities asks a lot of the people who show up for it every day. Making room for rest, connection, creativity, and the things that restore us is part of caring for the people behind the work.

So for National Relaxation Day, we're sharing a little glimpse of our team beyond the workday - and celebrating the things that help fill our cups.

Here's to making space for the things that bring us back refreshed, connected, and ready for what comes next.

Showing up can look like a lot of things.

It can look like listening when someone needs to talk. Sharing a resource when a family doesn't know where to turn. Making an introduction. Offering encouragement. Opening a door. Or simply being there when someone needs to know they aren't navigating something alone.

At STARRY, we see every day what can happen when people choose to show upfor families, for neighbors, and for their communities.

Because strong communities aren't built by programs or organizations alone. They're built by people who care enough to connect, help, and show up.

Need support - or know someone who does? STARRY is here to help you find the next step.

Some kids need new school supplies.

Some kids need extra support.

Some need both.

As a new school year begins, every child is carrying something.

For some, it's excitement. For others, it may be anxiety, uncertainty, changes at home, or challenges that aren't always visible.

At STARRY, we believe every child deserves the support they need to thrive. Whether your family is looking for counseling, parenting support, fatherhood services, or resources through one of our Family Resource Centers, we're here to walk alongside you.

Asking for support isn't a sign of weakness - it's a step toward building stronger families and brighter futures.

Because every family deserves support, and every child deserves the opportunity to thrive.

STARRY AMA: Who can visit a Family Resource Center?

The short answer? Anyone!

STARRY’s Family Resource Centers are welcoming spaces for the whole community. You don’t have to be a current STARRY client or be looking for a specific service to stop by.

Maybe you’re looking for a resource. Maybe you’d like to join an activity or event. Maybe you want to learn more about what’s available in your community - or simply make some new connections.

You’re welcome here.

Family Resource Centers are shaped by the communities they serve, so each one may look a little different. At their heart, FRCs are about bringing people together, strengthening connections, and helping individuals and families thrive.

STARRY’s Family Resource Centers serve the Georgetown and Liberty Hill communities. Want to learn more about what’s happening at your local FRC? Send us a message - we’d love to connect with you!

What should we answer next? Leave your questions in the comments - we may feature them in a future STARRY AMA!

"Our sons and daughters are only passing through. If we are lucky, they will always consider our home their harbor, but they are headed out to the open sea, almost from the first."

— Jacquelyn Mitchard

Childhood is a journey toward independence. As parents and caregivers, our role isn't to keep our children from the open sea - it's to help build a harbor they'll always know they can come home to.

At STARRY, we're honored to walk alongside families as they strengthen relationships, navigate life's storms, and build homes where children feel safe, supported, and loved. Through counseling, fatherhood programs, Family Resource Centers, and other family support services, we believe strong connections today help children navigate tomorrow with confidence.

Because while we can't calm every sea, we can help families build a harbor that lights the way home.

Happy National Son & Daughter Day from all of us at STARRY.
