There seems to be some confusion and misinformation circulating about what the meaning of and who is behind it. SO let me clarify…There is NO specific company represented by . A group of concerned citizens of Georgetown and the surrounding areas have gotten together to help promote and build awareness of choosing local contractors, vendors and retailers. represents all the locally owned businesses in our area. The lumber yard, the framer, the electrician, the plumber, the roofer, the grocery store owner, the restaurant owner, the dress shop owner, the shoe store owner……you get where I am going. With today’s economy many are shopping online and the mom & pop stores are the ones suffering. We have advertising campaigns that say Shop Local, we are saying Choose Local as well.
As a community we must support all our local business owners, from children’s clothing stores to construction companies. If our City Council and Mayor are asking us to Shop Local we need to remind them that they need to Choose Local also!!
Our group is not advocating for one company over another, we just find it odd that out of the seven proposals that were submitted for the City Hall Project six were from our home state of South Carolina and only one from North Carolina and the out of state company received the award.
This means the workers from Edifice will all load up after being paid on Friday and drive back to Charlotte and spend their pay checks at the grocery store, dress & shoe stores and restaurants in Charlotte….
