Live Oak County 4-H Council member Joslyn Jones recently attended the District 12 Leadership Lab, where she strengthened her skills in leadership, teamwork, 4-H project areas, community service, and personal growth.

In addition, members Laurie Herring and Joslyn Jones proudly represented Live Oak County as voting delegates at the District 12 Election Convention. During the event, they had the opportunity to meet with candidates and participate in selecting the next District 12 4-H Council.

We are proud of these outstanding 4-H members for stepping up as leaders and representing our county!

What a great way to wrap up the week! Julie Jones earned 9th place in the Animal Science Educational Presentation over the topic of Livestock Guardian Dogs.

Julie was also recognized for her outstanding 4-H career and academic success, receiving a Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Scholarship which is an incredible honor!

Live Oak County recently hosted a Dove Workshop and Tour for dove enthusiasts, hunters, outfitters, and landowners.

Participants gained valuable knowledge on dove ecology, population trends, tracking methods, hunting laws and regulations, and species identification.

The tour included visits to dove food plots, where attendees learned about successful planting practices using sesame, sunflower, and sorghum row crops, along with proper chemical applications and timing to support healthy dove habitat.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this educational event a success!
