The hardest part about a season ending is knowing that specific team and group of girls will never get to play with each other again. It’s knowing how much work, blood, sweat, and tears goes into making sure every year is uniquely theirs and making it the best year yet.
Then, all of a sudden, it’s over.
It hits you harder than you think. Seniors that have been the best part of your day are no longer there. You are forever grateful for the legacy and impact they have made but you can’t help but feel a little piece of you is empty.
This team and this season was special in so many ways that goes far beyond wins and losses. It’s hard to look past records and achievements at times, but it’s the little things that matter and what they’ll remember the most.
The long bus rides, team bondings, being there for each other during a breakup, making AI photos of the coaches, Lance dressing up in crazy outfits, Coach Neal’s gameday vlogs, a teammate making you crack up when you’re having a bad day, our crazy dugout shenanigans, hearing your walk up song, and so much more.
We will celebrate our achievements and individual accolades next week, but for now I am just thankful God put me in a place and with a coaching staff that tries to connect with EVERY girl on the team, puts in an ABSURD amount of hours analyzing every detail, values having fun over winning at all costs, and cares far more about our girls as people than they do as softball players.
I am thankful for this group of girls who makes every day worth coming to work and is a constant reminder of the good in the world. Here’s to another amazing year and making next year even better.
