It’s been a busy week at the training center!

Yesterday, we hosted a group of young men from a nearby high school. Today, we’re training members in OSHA 10 ET&D, First Aid/CPR/AED, and Directional Drill.

Great to see so many members using our facility for continued safety training and hands-on experience this week!

As many of you know, our industry is changing faster than ever—with increasing load demands, critical infrastructure upgrades, and rapidly advancing technology. And while the tools may change, our mission does not: to deliver the safest, most skilled electrical workforce in Northern Illinois.

Next year, IBEW 196 will celebrate its 125th anniversary. What better way to honor that legacy—and build on it—than by breaking ground on this state-of-the-art training center. This facility will ensure our 1,600 members continue to raise the standard of excellence, go home safe every night, and bring unmatched value to the IBEW contractors we proudly serve.

We would like to thank the entire IBEW Local 196 staff for their hard work, the City of Genoa for embracing our presence in this community, ALBAT, NECA and our Board of Trustees for their collaboration in bringing this vision to life.
