Monday, February 12th, is the monthly general meeting of the FVAS. We will discuss members imaging and observing experiences as well as a brief review of upcoming events and club business. A lecture on the planet Mercury will follow. The meeting is open to the public and is free. It starts at 7PM at the Orientation Barn of Peck Farm Park at 4083 Kaneville Road in Geneva.

CHANGE IN LECTURE TOPIC:

February Public Star Party At Peck Farm Park. Starting at 7PM, Saturday Feb 21st, the FVAS will be hosting a lecture on "The Planet Mercury - Closest to the Sun" in the Orientation Barn of Peck Farm Park at 4083 Kaneville Road in Geneva. The lecture will be held rain or shine, with cancellation only if travel is dangerous. Following the lecture, weather permitting, there will be observing of celestial objects. Free and open to the public. Join us!

Join us Saturday, Jan 24 at Peck Farm Park for the first Public Star Party of 2026. The lecture topic is "Late Winter Skies" starting at 7PM, with observing afterwards, weather permitting. The lecture is held in the Orientation Barn east of the parking lot, opposite the Peck Farmhouse. Free and open to the public.

Saturday November 8th starting at 6:30 PM at Peck Farm Park in Geneva the FVAS will hold its monthly Public Star Party. The lecture starts at 6:30 in the Orientation Barn with the topic "The Skies of Fall and Winter" featuring the major constellations and celestial wonders we'll all be treated to over the next few months. After the lecture, weather permitting, we will view Saturn, the Moon, double stars, star clusters and other wonders of the night sky. Later, we'll see Jupiter rise. This event is free and open to the public. Come join us.

Monday, Oct 13th, at Peck Farm Park in Geneva the FVAS will hold its monthly meeting for October, starting at 7PM. Attendance is free and the public is welcome to attend. The main presentation will be Part 2 of "Cosmic Dawn", a newly released NASA film describing the development and first discoveries of the James Webb Space Telescope. Following the meeting our members will be happy to discuss any astronomy-related topics, including how to select a telescope as a gift this coming holiday season. If it is clear we will also observe the night sky from the darkened parking lot of Peck Farm Park.

Oct 11 at 6:30 PM the FVAS will be holding its October Monthly Public Star Party. The lecture topic is "Our Moon and Solar System". The event starts at 6:30PM at Peck Farm Park in Geneva and is open to the public. If skies allow observing in the parking lot will start around 7:15PM. Free. No registration required.

This coming Monday, September 15, is the monthly meeting of the FVAS. The public is welcome to attend and it is free. The meeting is held at Peck Farm Park in Geneva, IL starting at 7:30PM.

The lecture topic will be: "Cosmic Dawn, Part I". NASA recently released a new video covering the development and use of the James Web Space Telescope. We'll be presenting Part I at this meeting and Part II at the October 13th meeting. NOTE: The September meeting was rescheduled from the usual 2nd Monday date due to a conflict with a star party we were supporting at Leroy Oaks.

Saturday, September 6th, is the night of this months Public Star Party of the FVAS at Peck Farm Park in Geneva. The lecture starts at 7:30, followed by observing around 8:15, weather permitting. The lecture will be held in the Orientation Barn of the park with observing in the parking lot.

The August Public Star Party of the FVAS will be held at Peck Farm Park in Geneva, this coming Saturday, August 9th. The lecture topic is "The Story of the Telescope". It begins a 8PM in the Orientation Barn of Peck Farm Park located at 4038 Kaneville Road in Geneva. After the lecture, weather permitting, the members of the FVAS will be sharing the wonders of the night sky with their telescopes in the parking lot.
