- Some memories from our wonderful 2026 Best of the Fest Celebration! Pictured first is Rochester’s glorious Little Theatre in the daytime.

Thank you to everyone who came, especially those who participated in our amazing Q&A featuring the special guests pictured in the second image: Mike Themistocleous, Louisa Duchin, Eli Jeffery, and Ronald Short!

Of course, we can’t forget about the people behind it all, our founders and organizers: Tim Banach, seen in our third image introducing the evening's films, and Rebecca Burditt, who's pictured in our last image with Tim outside the Little (which looks even better at night)!

One last big thank you to all our event sponsors: Rochester/Finger Lakes Film Commission, The Little Theatre, Empire Access, Ontario County Arts Council, and Visit Rochester for making all of this possible!

We hope you stay tuned and keep an eye out for our upcoming 2027 FLX Film Festival program! ~

- Following the birth of her niece, Jing returns to Singapore for the newborn’s full month celebration. Here she is forced to confront her contentious relationship with her estranged mother and a traditional family politic—the causes of her departure a decade prior.

Our final highlight is Full Month, directed by Ash Goh Hua. This powerful drama taps into the tensions and complexities of tradition and culture that come to boil when travelling home to deal with family.

See it and every other film we've highlighted tomorrow at the Best of the Fest Celebration, 7:00 PM at Rochester’s Little Theatre! Check out our page for more details, and for tickets!

- Teddy and his puppet Tater perform weekly at Smirk’s Playhouse. One night, an elegant woman catches Tater’s eye, leading him to question his gender. As Tater’s exploration of gender comes to light, Teddy must choose between supporting Tater or risking their chance at success.

Our highlight for today is the superb Teddy & Tater, directed by FLX Festival alum Louisa Duchin! This film is a heartfelt, deeply personal tale of acceptance and overcoming.

See it in two (!) days at the Best of the Fest Celebration! Stay afterwards for a Q&A featuring the director! Check out our page for more details, and for tickets!

- A stop-motion short film crafted from materials gathered in the intertidal zone of a small cove on an island in Maine. Using rocks, seaglass, feathers, shells, and other found objects, the film explores the natural layering of colors.

Today’s highlight is Tideline, a beautifully artistic stop-motion film directed by Jason Harrington. This film is a short and sweet symphony of sound, color and motion for the senses!

Watch it in four days at the Best of the Fest Celebration! Check out our page for more details, and for tickets!

- As Tyler deals with the recent passing of his mother and two broken arms, he gravitates towards Sarah, his best friend's older sister, as she deals with the emotional damage of a recent sex-tape exposure.

Today’s highlight is Jimmy’s Older Sister, directed by Laura Paganello. This film is intimate and beautifully written, with excellent performances portraying complex characters and honest emotions.

See it in five days at the Best of the Fest Celebration and stay for a Q&A session featuring producer Mike Themistocleous! Check out our page for more details, and for tickets!

- When a disabled dude keeps getting mistaken for other disabled dudes, he and his best friend decide to lean in when he's mistaken again for a disabled celebrity.

Today’s short film is the delightful WRONG GUY, directed by Brett Maline. A charming and devastatingly funny story about a frustrating personal experience, this film’s message and wit are equally sharp.

See it in eight days at the Best of the Fest Celebration! Check our page for more details and for tickets!
