Public Notice. Annexation.
In 2007, the community of Genesee came together and overwhelmingly approved the creation of the Genesee Recreation Tax District. At that time, the District boundaries included only taxed properties within the City of Genesee and the rural areas of Genesee located in Latah County. No areas of Nez Perce County were included.
Since then, the District has developed numerous recreational facilities that have benefited the entire Genesee community—including residents of both Latah and Nez Perce counties.
In January 2025, a comprehensive area-wide survey on community recreational needs was conducted. The results showed strong demand for expanded facilities, including additional parks, lighted sports fields, a public track, level walking paths, sport courts, and expanded public programming. To meet these growing needs, the Genesee Recreation District is asking rural voters of Genesee residing in Nez Perce County to consider annexation into the District. This annexation would generate additional funding and more equitably distribute the tax burden across all those who benefit from the facilities.
Two public meetings will be held at the Genesee Fire Hall to help answer questions and provide additional information on the following:
March 31st, 2026, 6 pm - 7 pm
April 20th, 2026, 6 pm - 7 pm.
