🚔 What is the new Tri-Line Police Department? Read HERE!

The cities of Gibbon, Ga***rd, and Winthrop are discussing a proposed partnership to combine police services into one regional department: the Tri-Line Police Department.

The goal? To create a stronger, more sustainable way to serve all three communities by sharing staff, resources, and costs — while still maintaining the local law enforcement coverage our towns depend on.

This conversation is also about supporting the officers who serve here. Better staffing, stronger support, and more career opportunities can help keep officers in our communities longer — which means less money spent on turnover and retraining, and more consistency for the people they protect.

These departments are working hard to find the best, most cost-effective path forward for our small towns.

Hey everyone, just wanted to share some good news. We recently donated hearing protection to the Sibley East Shooting Sports.

Shooting can get loud, and protecting those young ears is super important.
Sertoma hopes it keeps the kids safe and enjoying the sport.

This week at Sertoma, we welcomed Lieutenant Louwagie from the Sibley County Sheriff’s Office.

Lt. Louwagie shared about his role as Jail Administrator, overseeing dispatch, records, and the county’s computer-aided dispatch system.

Best piece of take away is a reminder that you can text 911. If you can't speak or it's unsafe to do so!

Sertoma would like to take a moment to recognize Dale and Kathy Jensen, two wonderful people who have been part of the Ga***rd community since 1985.

Throughout the years they have dedicated so much of their time, energy, and heart to our community. They are the kind of people who show up, lend a hand, support local efforts, and quietly make a difference in ways that truly matter.

Their commitment to service, community involvement, and the people around them is exactly what makes Ga***rd such a special place to live. We are grateful for the example they set and the kindness they continue to share.

Thank you, Dale and Kathy, for your years of dedication and for being such a meaningful part of our community. You are appreciated!

🎉 Let’s give a big shoutout to an incredible woman in our community — Dr. Emma Fowler!

Sertoman of the Year

Dr. Emma Fowler has always had a heart for helping others. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Intercultural Studies from Crown College and went on to receive her Doctorate of Chiropractic from Parker University in Dallas, Texas (Class of 2012).

What stands out most about Dr. Emma isn’t just her education or professional achievements — it’s her genuine kindness, her dedication to service, and the way she shows up for people.

Dr Emma is President of the Ga***rd Sertoma Club. Whether it’s organizing, supporting local causes, or simply being a steady, caring presence, Emma leads with compassion and puts community first. She’s the kind of person who makes our small town better just by being in it.

What a wonderful night at our Sertoma Club banquet! 🎉

We celebrated our dedicated members with Perfect Attendance awards for the 2025-2026: Lindsey Weiland, Pat Ruffing, Wally Reckdahl, Jerry Hahn, John Giefer, Emma Fowler, Patty Boeder, Pastor Fred Hinz

Sertoman of the year: Dr Emma Fowler, Restore Chiropractic and Wellness of Ga***rd.

Special congratulations to our Sertoma Service Award recipients for their outstanding volunteer hours last year, 100 hours or more of service: Dr. Emma Fowler, Lindsey Weiland, Zach Dahlman

The highlight of the evening was presenting the Service to Mankind Award to the Sibley County Cancer Fighters (founded by Jerri Odenthal and Sarah Anderson). This hardworking group of volunteers has raised over $40,000, provided gas cards, covered medical expenses, delivered meals, and offered personal support to so many families facing cancer — all while every single person involved donates their time with no paid staff.

Sarah shared their inspiring story of starting the nonprofit in 2018 to cut through red tape and make help more accessible. Thank you for the compassion and impact you bring to our community!

Huge thanks to everyone who attended, volunteered, and helped make the night special. Our club continues to have fun while doing meaningful work in the community. If you’re local and want to join us, we’d love to have you!
