JCAS Aching Hearts Club

JCAS Aching Hearts Club This page was created because Heartworm infection is a serious problem in South Mississippi and its surrounding areas. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Due to our warm, wet climate, the mosquitoes, which carry juvenile heartworms prolifically, can spread the parasites to many animals. Dogs pulled into foster homes from Jackson County Animal Shelter that have Heartworms need to be treated before they get adopted to a Forever Home, but the foster parents need your help! Heartworm treatment includes an injectable drug given 2 or 3 times that will ki

ll the adult heartworms in the blood vessels of the heart. The treatment can cost hundreds of dollars per dog, as the dosing is dependent on the dog’s size. The larger the dog, the more expensive the treatment. By donating, you too can give Heartworm Positive Dogs like Shelby, Nadine, Riff Raff, Sadie Mae, James and others, a second chance.
