Looking for something fun to do this week that also supports an amazing cause? We’ve got you covered. 🚓🚒⚽

Tonight, join the Manchester Police Department at Tucker’s West for the Clean Up for Special Olympics event! Great people, great food, and a great excuse to call it “community service” while hanging out with friends. 😉

Then on Saturday, May 30th, come cheer on your local heroes at the Guns N’ Hoses Police vs. Fire Soccer Game! Bragging rights are on the line, and while we can’t guarantee professional-level soccer skills… we CAN guarantee entertainment. 😂

The Clean Up for Special Olympics helps support incredible Special Olympics athletes through Special Olympics Missouri, and the Guns N’ Hoses event benefits BackStoppers — helping the families of fallen and catastrophically injured first responders. Two great events, two amazing causes, and one fun-filled week to support your community!

These young men and women continue to demonstrate leadership, dedication, teamwork, and a commitment to serving their communities.

As we prepare for our 2026 Explorer Academy this July, we are actively seeking additional support from sponsors, small businesses, community partners, and corporate sponsors to help provide valuable training opportunities for our future law enforcement leaders.

The St. Louis Area Law Enforcement Explorer Association would like to congratulate Advisor Ryan Young on his promotion within the Berkeley Police Department from Officer to Detective Sergeant, effective June 1, 2026.

Detective Sergeant Young’s law enforcement journey began as an Explorer with the Normandy Police Department prior to attending the police academy. Over the past 8 years as a police officer, Ryan has demonstrated outstanding professionalism, leadership, and dedication to serving his community.

In addition to his new role, Ryan serves as a certified fi****ms instructor, Field Training Officer, and Investigator with the Major Case Squad. He also proudly served 6 years in the Army National Guard, continuing his lifelong commitment to service and leadership.

Ryan has dedicated the past 4 years to mentoring future law enforcement professionals as an Explorer Advisor with the Hazelwood Police Explorer Post, where he serves as our Lead Level 1 Advisor. He is also well known throughout the Academy for calling military cadence each year — a tradition that motivates and inspires our Explorers.

We are proud to have Ryan as part of our Association and congratulate him on this well-deserved promotion. We wish him continued success in his new assignment with the Berkeley Police Department.

During the week of May 10–16, we join law enforcement agencies and communities across the nation in recognizing National Police Week — a time dedicated to honoring the service, sacrifice, and commitment of the men and women who wear the badge.

National Police Week was established in 1962 when John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation designating May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which it falls as National Police Week.

This week serves as a solemn reminder of the courageous officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty while protecting their communities. We remember and honor those heroes, support the families they left behind, and recognize the dedication of all law enforcement professionals who continue to serve with integrity, courage, and compassion every day.

Here in the St. Louis area, we stand united in gratitude for the officers who work tirelessly to keep our neighborhoods safe. We also extend our appreciation to the dispatchers, corrections officers, support staff, and families who stand beside them in service.

Please join the St. Louis Area Law Enforcement Exploring Association in honoring the fallen, supporting the living, and remembering the true meaning of service during National Police Week. 🇺🇸💙

This weekend, Police Explorers from the O’Fallon, Wentzville, and St. Charles City Explorer Posts had the opportunity to participate in fi****ms training at the brand-new C.A.S.T.L.E. range. Our Explorers gained valuable hands-on experience, learned important fi****ms safety principles, and continued building the skills and discipline that help prepare them for future careers in law enforcement and public service.

We want to extend a huge thank you to the C.A.S.T.L.E. range for opening your doors and providing such an outstanding facility for our Explorers to train in. Opportunities like this make a lasting impact on these young men and women. We’d also like to recognize and thank all of our dedicated fi****ms instructors who volunteered their time, knowledge, and mentorship throughout the weekend. Your commitment to developing the next generation of leaders is greatly appreciated.

If you are between the ages of 14–20 and interested in learning more about the Police Explorer program, visit stlexplorers.org to find the Explorer Post closest to you and learn how to get involved!

Last night, the Mothers Against Drunk Driving Heartland region recognized outstanding law enforcement officers for their dedication to keeping our roads safe through proactive DWI enforcement.

We are especially proud to recognize eight former Police Explorers from the St. Louis Area Law Enforcement Exploring Association, some of which are still involved with Explorers today, who were honored for their efforts and commitment to impaired driving enforcement. Their hard work is making a real difference in protecting our communities and saving lives.

Together, 160 officers were recognized for a combined total of 3,700 DWI arrests in 2025 — a powerful reminder of the commitment law enforcement officers make every day to keep dangerous drivers off our streets.

Please join us in congratulating our former Explorers:

• Lt. Kathy Weiss (Advisor)
• Sgt. Jim Ervin (Vice President)
• Sgt. John O'Neil
• Officer Josh Bauer (Advisor)
• Officer Herbert Spears
• Officer Robbie Parkinson
• Officer Zackary Koch (Advisor)
• Officer Lowell Moore
