Earlier this month, February 6-8th, over 1,300 scouts from Scouting America's Older Youth Programs met up in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, for Winterfest! Many Venturers from around the nation were able to get together and participate in meaningful training, unique programs, and an outstanding party! It was a blast meeting the awesome and inspiring scouts who make up Venturing.

Aidan, Karis, and Joaquín were able to attend, and they were joined by the cutout versions of the rest of the NVOA team! Thank you to everyone who had the chance to meet with us and for all you do make the program amazing!
We can't wait for next year!!
Congratulations, Winterfest, on 50 incredible years!!

Here is the first of our High Adventure Series ❄️. We will be posting about Venturers doing amazing adventurous activities from their local areas to high adventure bases!

Crew 316 from Apex, NC recently attended Northern Tier’s Okpik Remote Musher Camp High Adventure program on Jan 23-26, 2026. This experience provides participants with an introduction to dog sledding. They got to setup a basecamp, take part in daily chores around the dog yard, and take the dogs for runs, this experience also usually gives you a chance to ski/snowshoe in your downtime, and have a great balance of winter camping and the dog program.

Northern Tier itself is Scouting America’s oldest high adventure base and offers winter trek options similar to what Crew 316 did as well as canoe trek options in the summer.

High adventure is a great experience, and this is a great opportunity for Venturers. What’s your favorite high adventure program?
